Hawg-Wired upgrade !!
« on: June 10, 2006, 03:44:39 AM »

I rode up to Jim's ( H-D Dude ) today was having trouble with my speakers, and needed Jim to take a look I needed Tunes from Cripple Creek. Well both speakers were gone, Jim says it's my song choices, I go from Toby Keith to Guns & Roses he told me the speakers can't handle it, [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] anyway I decided to upgrade to the Bigger speakers. Hey! Guy's they'll blast you off the bike, there's so much power coming  out of those speakers, I may need to get it Dyno'ed again. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]      Thanks Jim !!!!
Eleven days and counting to C.C.

Don,
Are you using just the stock radio or do you have the Hawg-Wired amplifier (or any other amp.) hooked up to your system? From the picture of speakers next to the HogTunes speakers in Twolane's thread I had the feeling they would rock (magnet size makes a big difference). [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Jim,
Thanks. I was thinking that but wanted to make sure.

How much difference would the component speakers make on just the stock radio?

If the stock radio has enough power to get these going I think they would be fine. They are designed to handle lots o power so that in turn takes away some efficiency. I am on my way to meet with HW this AM so I'll discuss this with Paul and see what he thinks. I'll post back later

I discussed the use of the Component speakers with Paul. He felt that they would work fine on our radio's due to the increased output of the  SEEG radio.

I just received and installed 'standard' Hawg-Wired speakers in my fairing, driving them with the stock 04 seeg radio, no extra amp.  Till now I had thought the stock HD speakers were pretty good.
Well, I haven't had a chance to ride with the new HWs, but I cranked up the tunes in the garage... Yeeeow!
The HWs are crisp and clear, and have a much fuller sound than the HDs. And they handle the power with no distortion. Really loud, if ya want that!   I don't know how the component speakers could be any better (unless they somehow got more bass.)
Thanks, Jim... shipment was right on time, well packed, and easy to install.   [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
And thanks, Don, for the fairing tips... worked like a charm. Didn't even have to use the KY!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
I'm ready for vacation!!

Garz,
Your going to have to let me hear those. I'm saving up for the big kit to put in my ultra but who knows maybe I could get a couple for the glide.

My pleasure, Bigdog. Have to be after July 3, though... we're headin' to the hills tomorrow.  George Thorogood should make the Cherohala even better!  Maybe some 'Eagles'... yeah, that's it.. screamin' Eagles!  Blues on the Blue Ridge!  DEF LEPPARD on the Dragon!  Hahahaha..    I kill me. ;D
