Does anyone know if the 2011 660 cradle with wiring through the handle bars includes the XM USB connection?  I know all about the early 660 cradles not operating with the GXM40 antenna, but that was resolved.  All ZUMO 66X cradles sold today support the GXM40 antenna.  What I thought was that the cradle on my bike would also include the USB connection but after looking at the plastic 4-way junction on the aftermarket cradle cable I realized that would never fit through the handlebars.  Also I was checking the audio input cable coming from the neck of the frame behind the faring and located the connector for it and it was only two wires and not four.  My guess is that Garmin had to split the junction block from 4 wires to two junction blocks with two wries each.  But dose it include the XM USB connection.  It's included in the HD665 kit because I purchased one.

Anyone know anything about this?

The only way to tell if your present mount is compatible with a 665 is to try it. You can get the wiring harness (even the USB plug) through the bars, it is just a real pain in the butt but if you take your time and do not stress the wiring you can do it. The 660 wiring harness is the same as the 665. The wiring leaves the mount with two cables, each cable splitting into two connectors. One with the power & USB and the other with the audio output and the microphone input.

Thanks Jim!  You have confirmed my suspension that the junction block as split into two to make routing through the bars easier.  So you have pulled the Garmin 4-wire junction block through the bars? I was thinking about just removing the block or material at the junction to make routing wires through the bars easier.

Here's the standard 660/665 cradle harness.  When I purchased a new 665 from my HD dealer it had the same cradle harness as the one pictured.  The one for the 660 supplied on my 2011 FLTRUSE must be a different one.  Does anybody have the supplemental parts book for a 2011 FLTRUSE???  Would like to see if this special harness is listed and what the number is.  Also, if it's shown in the supplimental service manul for a 2011 FLTRUSE?

The 660 and 665 mount & wiring harness are exactly alike, no differance in cables. The mount and harness are from Garmin not Harley.

The mount on your bike is the old style and is not wired the same as the mount for a 665 which is why a 665 will not work with XM on the mount that you have. Gamin changed the design about a year ago (not sure just when) so that the mount and wiring harness that ships with the 660 & 665 are now the same. The only way you can tell if you have a 660 mount is to try it with a 665. If the XM does not work then you have an old style mount.

I am talking about how many cables that are on the mount in this post.

The only way you can make your present mount work with a 665 is if you take it apart and solder the wires from the USB cable to the circuit board and those wires are very small.

Hi Jim,

You are correct. I was just referring to what harness was included in the Harley Davidson Branded Garmin 665 package.  The special cable with split pairs of wires must be a special OEM version from Garmin to HD for use on CVO models.

Thanks again for the information.

The mount and wiring harness are the same for the Harley version or the Zumo version of the 660 &  665 units. The only difference's between the Road Tech and a Zumo is that the Road Tech has Harley colors, a special program to allow the NIM to work, preloaded Harley dealer locations, the Road Tech does not come with a bike mount you have to buy one separately the Zumo comes with a bike mount, the Road Tech has a two year warranty the Zumo has a one year, the Road Tech is usually priced higher but that goes without saying since it comes from Harley. I might be missing some thing else.

Just got back from a mini vacation to the Adirondack mountains, very nice riding country but it is getting cold up there.
One ride was from Lake Placid on Rt. 86 along the river, man the storms really did a job on some of the houses and the roads, the water line shown meant that many houses were under water. My heart goes out to those people.

So does this mean I have to run the new wiring for the 665 to get xm and wx?

put the 665 on and try it, if the weather and the xm buttons are not there you will have to install the wires and mount that came with the 665. thats the easyest way to find out. i borrowed an 665 from a friend that bought the kit this yr to install on his 2010 after he saw my 660 on my 2010.5 when i put the 665 on mine i did not have the weather or xm which meant i had the old mount and wires. so i will have to change to the newer mounting kit with the 665. now the functions and menu are different"everything worked gps wise like my 660" so i asked him and he said that it wasn't there when he looked at it. but when we put it on his it was.

ok, thanks. I have both the 660 and the 665. 660 came with the bike and I bought the 665 for a different bike that I just sold. Never used either one of them. The 2011 Road Glide CVO has the 660 mount so I guess I will pull that harness off and put on the 665 one. I have a 660 never used if anyone wants it.
Make offer.

Checked with Garmin.  Two 660/665 cradle/harnessare available.  Both support the GXM40 antenna.
