RJob.....that bear's way to close.......what's the story? [smiley=drink.gif]  spyder

In 2003 I was hunting in Manitoba www.laurieriverlodge.com and had just gotten into my stand.  That little bugger came right down to the stand and wanted to see what was up.  He climbed up the three steps with his front paws and was standing on the ground.

That made him between 4 and 5 feet tall.  I figured I better get a pic of him so someone would know how I met my demise.  Anyway after I got the pic I stood up and roared at him.  He wasn't too impressed but gave me kind of an RCA dog look and stepped up onto the first rung.

That was a bit close I figured so I kind of kicked at him and yelled a bit and he got down and didn't clomb up again.  He hung around for most of the evening until I shot a bigger bear.  Then after some time he went over to the other bear and figured out something just wasn't right and off he went like he'd been shot out of a cannon.

I figured him to be maybe a 200-250 lb bear and maybe a year and half to two years old.  He obviously had not been around Mr. Weatherby before as the shot didn't bother him at all, although his sister had been hanging around too and she took off right when I fired.

It makes a good story to tell that you were that closee to a bear anyway and I have the picture to prove it.  Glad I had the time to get the pic.  Here's a tan phase bear from that year too, with Mr. Weatherby in the pic.

Oh yeah, RJob......great story to go w/ the great photos.  I'm not sure I'd been as cool snapping that photo as you were when he started climbing up that stand.  They're pretty, but dangerous, kinda like some of the wimmen JC and Hub hang out with......I'd sure have mr. weatherby or his cuzzin close at hand.  [smiley=2vrolijk_21.gif] har!  spyder

Huh???  Did I miss a post somewhere???
WFP,
Yep you did I was setup and hood winked by two of the best here (TwoLane and Rjob). One of the best “give and go” plays I've been subjected to in awhile. I have to give them "props" on it they definitely had me going. :D

Spyder,
Ain't no doubt about that. I consider myself a "city" d00d, and only had seen bear in the zoo, until... One day we were on a fire call out in the "country" and I'm driving the truck (matter fact it wasn't to far from where I took picture of my bike in front of country store), and all of a sudden this black bear shoots across the road in front of me. I thought I was going to chit my britches right there. [smiley=nervous.gif] I was flabbergasted to say the least, pucker factor set in, and the Captain was in tears laughing at me. Mind you now I'm not used to seeing these animals up close and personal and to experience this out of nowhere was definitely a Kodak moment.

It's a basketball term. One player passes the ball off, then makes a break for the basket to recieve the ball back to do a slam dunk. Kinda like what they did to me. :o
