If you have the opportunity I would definitely get Doc to tune it for you. Gas mileage is definitely out of wack. For all that you have done to your engine the dyno numbers seem off especially the HP. My STD dyno numbers are 109HP and 121TQ and SAE numbers are 106HP and 118TQ with just SE259E cams, Fullsac X-pipe and 4" Rineharts.

I brought my mpg issue to my service manager last weekend.  He told me they'll lean it out more on the dyno.  I was told I could bring it in on Wednesday, but no way am bringing it in on the day before Thanksgiving.  Ill wait till next week.

In the mean time I want to disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect.  Start the bike up and run it to operating temp for several minutes without touching the throttle.  Then shut it down.

This has helped my '06 Gold Wing by resetting the ECM I believe, or it's air to fuel ratio back to stock ratio.  In the past I gained back about 5 mpg on the Wing when I notice the mpg slipping down.

Has anyone done this on a Harley?

When I brought this up at another dealership service department, they looked like I was talking Greek to them.

BTW on my last fill up riding very conservatively, all I got was 29 mpg.

Just thought I would share the dyno sheet from the mods I made to the Skunk.

Fullsac x pipe
4" Rinehart slip ons
SE 259E cams

I am pleased with the results as it works great for my riding style. Bike is set up as solo only and I like to cruise with the engine in the 2500+ rpm range.
Heading to IL in the morning to get my bike tuned after adding the 58mm tb, 5.3inj & RB Racing black hole spyder pipe. I'm hoping to see some sweet results from the combination! Taking the wifes deluxe for a cam change & tune after I added a 2-1 & a/c as well.. Will post results  when it's complete!
Thinking there may be some more mods this winter. Heads, pistons, throttle body and a different header pipe.

Thanks Doc, the bike runs great.

That won't do squat to the fuel mileage.  The program in your ECM is what it is, based on what the tuner put in there.  It will be that until it's changed with the SERT connected.  Your mileage is awful...if riding conservatively, your mileage should be 40mpg or better.  I'd say it's way too rich and/or they've got it in open loop mode all the time.

Well after talking to my tuner, he said he can only increase my mileage by 2-3 mpg if I was willing to sacrifice performance.  He said he done this for two other customers and both came back to get their performance back.

It's been windy lately but taking it easy on the throttle all I got was 27.8 mpg on the last tankful.
Keep in mind that my build is a Stage lll if that makes a difference in mpg.  My dealership tuner says that 31-33 mpg is normal for my type of build. Which I get when there's no head wind to contend with.

I'm thinking of calling Doc here in Florida and hear what he has to say after the holidays.  I know he prefers Master Tune, not sure if he'll work with a Screaming Eagle tuner.

Yes he does, and does a dang fine job with it.  He also trains other tuners on the Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner, as well as the Mastertune.

Stock compression for now but I'm in the process of replacing the throttle body, pistons and having the heads ported.

What's your MPG?

About 45 mpg if you drive in the 55 to 75 range. Drops to around 40 mpg if you maintain 80+ mph.

I have an appointment with Doc next Wed 11 Jan 2012. He plans to redo my dyno from my dealership and replace my HD SE Pro tuner.  I'm sure it will be money well spent and my MPG average should rise from it's 30 MPG average.

Joe ,

Sounds like the Skunk is running well. I also have the 259-e cams. I have the 10.5-1 comp pistons , D & D Fat Cat and Master Tune. I have been running this combo for about 11k miles. Bike runs great. Been about a year or so. Couldnt tell you what the gas mileage is, i just ride the balls of it and put gas in when its low  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Badbagg.

Is that dyno chart SAE corrected?  Smoothing?  Just curious.

Looks like it would be a blast, over 120 torque for just over a 1500 rpm band and over 110 for a 3500 rpm band.

Do you have any head work?
