In my life time, I have traveled through the United States more than once. But to me that trip would be the ride of a life time.  What a great video and beautiful place. My best to you and ride safe in the future years

Hello Sleepybare,

thx for your comment !!!!

Indeed, we are infected with Scotland. All three visits were full of unforgetable impressions with country and people. We return to the Highlands in the beginning of May for 12 days again.

Special on story in never forget ...

At our last trip in October we went with the ferry to the isle of aran. When we arrives at the harbour it was raining very, very strong and we thought about to make a stop overnight without driving anymore for this day.

Finally we did not stop and began discovering Aran in rain. It was unbelievable, noone on street, it was a little bit like the atmosphere in lord of the rings. But suddenly we saw a little village named Lagg with only 10 houses after driving more than 2 hours through the rain. Beside the houses there was a little countryhotel, named THe Lagg. It was looking nice, so we stoped. The Lagg was from 1782, very old, very scotish. We came in and my wife took our room. But I went directly to the bar. It was Friday afternoon, and all people of this small village were in the inn.

When I came in they observed me, looking very wet from the rain and one guy asked me: Why are you riding in this weather ?

I answered: Well we didn't find a good place to rest up we saw this little nice Village.

The whole people were laughing and the guy said: Come in, give him a wiskey.

That was the beginning of a wonderful evening/night.

We eate together, took drinks, talked about god and the world. We were in the group. We got invitations for tastings, visiting a cheesecompany ... and much more.

In the night at 3 O'clock we made pics of all people sitting on our Harleys, and it was raining !!! And we are singing: Standing in the rain.

With the people of this village we mail up today and we were ordered to come in May again, when we visit Scotland. But for shure on a Friday we have to come :-)

I hope, I can give you a little bit of our impressions, my English is not as goos as I would use to tell it like in my motherlanguage.

zz59,
Thanks for sharing these great impressions from Scotland. I'm planning a trip across France to London (Olympics), Edinburgh and then a roundtrip in Scotland this July/August. Can't wait for summer after I saw your pictures!

I'm just cutting a 45 min. movie version.

If you decide to take a ride with friends through Scotland, feel free to contact me. Last year, we have been there for three times. This year we stay there for 2 weeks in the beginning of May.

We love Scotland and will return to there every year :-) Scotland is unbelievable ...

Hello Jim.

I would not really say, we like the rainy weather ;-) But when we stay at your rainy and beautiful  Scotland and there is coming the fist sunshine after, there is a atmophere, I have never seen anywhere on the world.

And when it is cold and rainy the whole day. When we stay in a nice inn in the evening, our hearts will get warm through all the friendly people, we met at Scotland.

You know the words: When you like sunny weather, wait a few minutes :-)

We are looking for the beginning of May, when we return ti Scotland. But before, we want to discover Ireland in the mid of February.

Yes, there's something special about a little highland inn at the end of a cold wet day, Achim, I know what you mean! We've not had a decent Summer for three years now (though riding in Germany last summer, there was more rain than Scotland!) so hoping for some sun this year. Your gaelic will stand you in good stead in Ireland too, where our "ceud mìle fàilte" becomes their "céad míle fáilte"  ;)  You'll find the same atmosphere and people there, particularly in the South West.

Hello Jim.

Oh yes. Last year we had a lot of rain. But we have driven more than 19.000 km :-)

In February 2011 during our first visit in the Highlands, we had about 10 degrees and mostly sunny waether. In Mai we had a lot of rain and about 5 degrees in the Highlands. Last Trip in October 2011 we had sun, it was really warm most of the time, but worse and heavy storms in the north.

In Tongue we stayed for 3 days at the lovely Tongue Hotel, up to storm got little bit better.

My top Inns in Scotland:

1. Glenelg Inn
2. The Lagg Hotel, Aran
3. Applecoss Inn
4. The Wiskeyroom at the Togue Hotel
