Since JC was talking in his "Mods" thread about getting a trike when he's too old to keep his beautiful blue bike upright any longer, it seemed timely to post this thread...

When I got Buster last August, my wife "inherited" our our 1995 FLHTP, "Bertha". She rode it like a soldier for a few months, but soon got tired of the heft of it.

So, I went to Killer Creek and bought her "Beyonce", a new 2012 Tri Glide Ultra, for Christmas. She loves it - now she doesn't have to worry about dropping a 900-pound E-Glide, cornering tightly, U-Turns, GRAVEL, or any of the other things that used to scare her to death on the bike.

I've blinged it out a lot, as some of these pics show. I also installed a Fullsac X-Pipe B, some V&H Big Ovals slip-ons I had lying around, and an Arlen Ness Big Sucker on it, and I've dropped in the TTS map that Steve George sent. Still have to do a bunch of VTune tuning work on it, to get it running they way I want it to.

My wife named her "Beyonce" because she's big, black, curvy, and dripping with diamonds... well, Diamond Ice, anyway!

Thanks for all the kind comments! I'll update the pics with some FULL BLING pics today. I have the Airwing Fender Rails and LED lights still to install - but you have to take the rear wheels off to install them. I also have a set of rear lift brackets that raise the rear end 1 1/4" and are supposed to improve the handling quite a bit, as well as keeping the pipes from dragging on the ground when entering a steep driveway. She's been lucky so far... pipes haven't hit ground yet. I'll install the lift brackets and the fender rails at Wiz's house soon... he has a nice Trike-capable lift we can use.

I'm just hoping they don't make an FLHTCUTGSE in 2013... 'Cuz if they do, Mary may want to step up and join the CVO crowd! YIKES!

LOL! They key to NOT having to do household chores and such is to happily VOLUNTEER to do them... but then do them SO BADLY that you are NEVER asked to do them again! Worked for me... although I hesitate to recommend the technique, as it could entail considerable risk...

Yeah... we were going to get the Ember Red Sunglo one... it is beautiful in the sun... but we both thought the Diamond Ice bling would look much better on a black trike. I think we made the right color choice.

My riding buds are all just ITCHING to see ME riding BSR behind Mary on Beyonce... they all have their cameras at the ready, and have offered to PAY for any pics of that. I actually WANT to do it... it would be a blast being able to have some beers, snap pictures, mess around with the stereo, etc. and leave the driving to Mary... just not anywhere that will give them the satisfaction of being able to snap a pic of it! [/b] You just gotta know the group we ride with... I'd never hear the END of it!

Just dropped some MORE bucks on some nice polished rotors for Beyonce, and Lyndall Gold+ pads for both Beyonce and Buster - 5 sets, YIKES! I'm sick of cleaning brake dust off of all the chrome wheels! Hopefully that will be a thing of the past soon...

Actually, you're correct. The inner will get painted Vivid Black at some point before long... it's just such a PITA to do it. Also, chrome calipers will come before too long, as well as the chrome hubcaps for the rear wheels. I did get the chrome trim for the mid-frame heat deflectors... looks good!

Thanks! I would LOVE to! Talking my wife into a bike trip that long might be another story - but she sure doesn't have any excuse riding Beyonce!

I lived for two years in the East Bay when I worked in the City, and another two years up in Sac - back in 1986-1989. I LOVE the bay Area, and would move back in a heartbeat if we could afford it. Living is Sac was nice, because you could get just about anywhere in 2-3 hours - Lake Tahoe, the Sierras, Yosemite, the Napa and Sonoma Valleys - and other destinations are only a bit further away! It was like living in Paradise... (SIGH)  The North Georgia mountains, and up into North Carolina and the Smokies in NC/TN, are incredibly beautiful - but they just don't have the same FEEL of NoCal. I really felt totally at home there.

I would very much like to meet the West Coast CVO folks soon. This year is a bit tight on vacation time for my wife tho, due to a RIDICULOUS number of family events.

But the Far West Cruise is ON TAP for 2013!

I WISH I could do something like that... problem is, there's no empty lot beside us, and neighborhood covenants prohibit "adding on" anything anyway... they even prohibit outdoor storage buildings! My wife bought this house before we met (and of course before the Harleys...), and now we're trapped here. We have talked many times about moving - but with the housing market having plummeted, it would cost us a fortune to get out of this place and into something else.

So, I'll be toughing it out here in our tiny little overcrowded 2-stall garage for a long time... maybe forever...

We have the same rules in my development Ken, no sheds, no add-ons  so I went back to the architect that built the house and she tied the garage roof line in with the house roof and it passed the housing development

Heehee... The 4-wheelers were evicted from the garage years ago! One side is for Buster and Beyonce, and the other side is my far-overcrowded work area.

And it's literally my work area... I do software development, and I sit in the garage at my 8'x2' workbench by the bikes all day and write my code on a 27" display attached to my MacBook Pro.

Pretty nice work arrangements, I must say!

Thanks very much, Greg. It's been a lot of fun blinging them both out. I still need to put cams in Beyonce, and tune her properly. She has a Fullsac X-Pipe B, Big Sucker, V&H Big Ovals slip-ons, and a TTS... but I'm still running the Fullsac Stage 1 cal in Beyonce.

Andrews 26H cams are probably the best choice for my wife's riding style... they have a shorter duration that produces tons of low end torque to get the big, nearly 1,400 lb machine moving, and they come in around 1800 RPM. I could go with the SE 254e cams that are excellent for the 103" engine - but my wife rarely revs much above 3000 RPM anyway... 3500 max and not often. She never really get into their power band.

She's a very cautious, low-end rider... pretty much the Anti-Ken !!!

The one thing I have for Beyonce but have not yet installed is the clear rear fender trim... to protect the big rear fenders from rocks and such on the road. Gotta do that soon!

OH YEAH! I LOVE my Avy! I've seen your Z71 in your posts... Nice!

I had a 2005 LS that I sold, and bought this loaded 2011 LTZ in June of last year. It has virtually every option available. It was only on the lot for a few hours when I saw it and bought it... it hadn't even been unwrapped yet... straight off the truck. I had some additional CHROME trim put on it, of course... fuel door cover, rear gate latch cover, side step rails, etc... and the window toppers, a clear front hood protector that's nearly invisible, mud flaps, etc. It's kind of silly... it even has heated AND COOLED seats, and you can push a button and make the side mirrors fold in to fit through tight spaces or in parking lots so idiots don't bang them, Bluetooth, XM, Nav in the dash, leather seats, sunroof that I never use, built-in garage door openers, USB in the center console, and on and on and on. I can even use the onStar iPhone app to lock/unlock, set Panic mode, and start it remotely.

It's a color called Diamond White Tricoat - not-quite-white, with a sort of goldish-looking pearl in it - and all of the body panels, sails, bumpers, etc. are painted that color - which I like a lot. It's a very pretty color, and GREAT for the HOT summers we get here. My old 2005 was black, and the unpainted plastic sails really faded over time - even with liberal applications of various types of protectants - and they looked really bad after 6 years.

But the BEST thing about Avys is the awesome fold-down "mid gate". I have hauled lots of 8' lumber, 4x8 sheets of plywood, doors, etc. in the back - fully covered and out of the weather. Nice! I will have this Avy for a long, long time.

But if I want to have some fun, and it's too cold or hot to ride, I just steal... err... "borrow"... my wife's little 350Z Touring convertible Bambi !!!

Hey Ken,  I can tell by the smile on your wife's face that she is very happy with her scooter  . Since I'm waiting in line for it when she's ready for something else, tell her to be careful and not get any scratches on this beauty.
