Exactly.  If it wasn't for the vibration, I wouldn't know it was running.  :P

Vance & Hines True Duals, Vance & Hines Hi-Output Slip-ons and PowerCommander PCV (Pre-loaded with Map from FuelMoto). Installed it all myself in less than 2 hours.

I choose this setup for several reasons. 1: I prefer the look and sound of true duals. 2: I like the look of the LARGE diameter Hi-Outputs. 3: Vance & Hines and PowerCommander have always worked flawlessly. 4: During travels across the country I can find a PowerCommander tuner easily if any issues arise.

There are tons of choices and as you've read Fullsac is talked about most on this site. What ever slip-ons you choose be sure to change out the head pipe so you can get rid of the highly restrictive catalytic converter.

Fulsac "X" pipe "B" model and Bassani 4" mufflers.  The Bassani's stick out about 3" beyond that back of the bags and it makes it look like I've got a 60's hot rod with chrome exhaust tips sticking out.  I like the looks and the sound of these bad boys, definitely not too loud, but have a nice rumble at cruising.

Once I each 1000 miles service will be putting on V&H Monster Rounds. I hear that these cans give a deep rumble but not too screamingly loud. I've had enough of too loud pipes. These monster rounds fit the CVO bags perfectly. Best price quote I've had was from Guildford HD for the cans. Just need the roads to dry up from all the salt and I might get from 400 miles to 1000 miles in no time at all. Please some dry salt free roads. :-)

Are you saying I shouldn't have them added until after the break in period????  I was going to have the dealer do it as soon as they receive the bike.... *scratches head*

No, Its just that I dont have the cash available to spend on the slip-ons until the first service. Also am going to add passing lights too, so need a grand (pounds) to cover the cans and lights and fitting.

HD knows that the first thing your going to upgrade is the pipes - too bad they don't ship with something more respectable.  I went the V&H route all the way through, then tuned.  Did that right away - sounds awesome, and isn't obnoxiously loud.

The pipes don't really have sound and are very restrictive.

When I drove my 2011 FLHXSE2 out from the dealership ???? thought that I was on a Honda.
Went the Fulsac line with mid range baffles and Still didn't think that I was on a Hog until I
twisted it. NOT a fan of crazy loud pipes but my V&H 2/1 HO pipe tuned and unwrapped a (bit)
has a attitude. IT sounds like a Harley 24/7  :coolblue: :coolblue: :coolblue:

That's what the little lady wanted - the backrest is twice as wide as her (she's only 110lb) - but that was the compromise since I didn't want to add the tourpac/backrest option (which she wanted).

JMO, if the little lady was willing to let you spend the money to get the detachable tour pack, I would have went that route.  1.) It looks really nice on the bike; 2.) On long runs you may have wished you would have had the extra storage, you know for things like the little lady's curlers, purse, extra shoes, hair dryer, etc.  Just sayin.... ::)

I agree with Red Devil.......and the devil he is. ;D

And I've heard of some of the larger ladies wanting the touring pillion vs. the smaller pillion but I've never heard of anybody using a seat back off of a kitchen chair for their passenger backrest.  It kind of begs the question.....if she's only 110 lbs. why such a huge backrest?  They'll not be able to see her arms when she's signaling for you. :huepfenlol2:

Seriously, joking aside.....the quick release tour pack is the way to go and looks so much better!  You might also want to consider getting rid of that big azzed pig nosed license plate light also......and the luggage rack.  All of that stuff hanging off the back just ruins the smooth flowing curves of that back end on these bikes.  Just my .02 worth. :nixweiss:

Have the streamlined license plate on order - 3 weeks for delivery, rack and backrest are off when she isn't riding.  May end up there down the road - but I like my detachable luggage.  Just personal preference is all.

But that's the beauty of it all.  You've got a wife that wants you to get the tour pack (no explaining the cost to anyone), and it's also, wait for this.......detachable!!!!  So you can remove it when you don't want it on and want to ride solo....now what are you waiting for?  Get the detachable tour pak...they even painted it like the rest of the bike, ghost flames and all!!!  ::)  I'm almost thinking I'm your conscious speaking here.   :D ;)

Like a sewing machine......
Uh, that should be "like a high performance sewing machine."  Nothing gets your blood hot like the heat coming from a stifled engine.

I went with the Fullsac stage I (2.0 baffles, x-pipe, TTS).  World of difference.

The pipes don't really have sound and are very restrictive.
The top baffle is from a 2011 CVO Street Glide...
The bottom baffle is from a 2012 CVO Street Glide.

The bottom baffle is "straight through", except for a small 4 inch "baffle plug" that can be seen in the bottom pic...

It appears to be spot welded to the outer baffle, an air chisel should be able to pop it right out without removing the baffle from the muffler...

How well do the stock mufflers work with say a V&H true dual head pipe?  I'm not sure I want to fork out the cash for mufflers at the same time as the head pipes?  Just a thought

I thought the stock SESG pipes were pretty lame until I rode a stock Soft Tail Deluxe.  Even with the 103 motor, the softtail was like riding a toy.  The screamin' eagle mufflers  on the SESG are much better than the non-CVO bikes.  At least I could hear a muffled whimper when I gunned the stock CVO mufflers.

The final straw was when I stopped in a super market parking lot to let an elderly gentleman slowly cross in front of me.  Half way across the crosswalk, he looked up at me with a surprised look on his face and said "I'm sorry. I didn't know you were waiting, couldn't hear you".  I ordered my Bassanis later that day.

I would recommend a fullsac X pipe or a Fuel Moto x-pipe.  Stock shield fit over them.  Then the fullsac baffles for the stock mufflers.  You will get very good performance and sound.  The X-Pipe is popular way to go on this forum.  Both my bike and my wifes bike run the X-Pipe, hers the Fullsac and mine the Fuel moto.

Thanks Dave, I wasn't aware of an aftermarket head pipe that worked with stock heat shields.  I hate the looks of the aftermarket true dual and V&H X pipes so these are excellent options.  I think I'm going to take your path with the fuel moto and fullsac 2" baffles for the stock mufflers.  What tuner (if any) is required by going this route?

93,

I started out by putting the CFR slip ons on the stock header pipe. Sounded good. No tuner needed. Then I upgraded the stock header to the Fullsac X-pipe and the TTS master tune. Scares Old people Now. Much better. If you don't want to spend big bucks you can find stock header pipes on ebay for cheap that have the cat gutted and try that out. Good luck.

My advice would be the TTS tuner...there is likely a canned map available that would be good enough for that combo.

If your going that route, Steve at Fullsac has the tuner I would go with, the TTS Master Tune.  He will also give you a map for that pipe set up on your bike with the TTS.  It will run very well with his map.

That is exactly what I did with my wifes street glide.  I also use the same Tuner on my CVO road glide.  I also used the fullsac head pipe, 2 1/4 baffles and TTS tuner on my 09 CVO road glide.
