For all you non 2012 owners that dont like your sat nav bracket on the handlebars I have adapted the 2012 windshield bracket for my 2011 (see pic)

Buy the bits seperately and machine the zumo 550 adapter and ball
To go inbetween the legs.
Then drill the screen to suit.

The bracket looks good and ideal for when the screen is on.

Personally I like to ride without the screen but with the Garmin, however just using the standard Garmin mount leaves the sat nav a bit exposed, especially when travelling on motorways. They have been known to come off the mount! The thought of it falling off and hitting the tank makes me nervous, so to make it more secure I fitted a Tourtech unit on the handlebar bracket. Whilst it doesn't look particularly great it does provide a secure fitting for the sat nav and is also lockable. I certainly feel better when riding at speed without the screen, knowing that it's not going to fall off. The only drawback with it is that it's there all time, even when you are not using the Sat Nav.

That is a slick way to use the 550 but has any one found a way to adapt one with the smaller Garmin socket ball? You could then use the auto portable base that comes with the 660.

It's a ram mount made smaller then drilled and tapped & screwed onto the standard 2012 bracket
