My grandfather (dads side) migrated to South Dakota from Oslo, Norway with his dad in the early 1900's leaving large family behind. Grandpa soon married to another Norwegian he met in Minnesota and raised a family of 16 kids on a little farm house in New Effington, S.D.   Growing up, my dad and some of his siblings would often make trips back to Oslo for 4-6 week visits and we kids never got to go. But back in June 2001, my dad invited me on 4 week visit to Oslo with other family members. We stayed in moderate size home near Lake Bogstadvannet and I had the greatest time in my life. The countryside in and around Oslo is breathtaking beautiful and the people are the friendliest that I've experienced anywhere. Our four week visit went by fast and I was intrigued enough that i defiantly want to visit Norway again. Id love stay a couple months and do nothing but travel the countrysides by motorbike.  Someday I'm going to make this happen.   :2vrolijk_21:

Beautiful pics!  We just bought a car in Sweden through Volvo's overseas delivery program and are going to pick it up in June.  Thanks to your pics, we'll be adding a bit of your route to our itinerary.

Hey Jorge, great idea (next CVO GTG) !!!!

Would be there too. In July we have a trip to Norway again for 2 weeks by our own bikes (no rentals).

Means, we have enough space for eqippment (movie and pics) with us. In late July this year I will show all here on the forum :-)

Have a nice day.

Wow! Norway is gorgeous. I lived in Helsinki once upon a time. I have been all over Finland. Lots of riders there. Must make a stop in Norway next time over.

Hi Achim.
I was many times in Norway for skiing and I agree that it is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. To have a bike trip through Norway is definitely a future target for me. I am looking forward to read and see your report. Do you plan to take the ferry from Germany to Norway. A wonderful route is to take the swedish west coast up to Norway.

Ride safe and have fun.

Great pics! If you get a chance to visit Stavanger, check out their altstadt area. There's also a good H-D shop nearby--forgot the name at the moment--but they have a decent selection and cool shirts. From Stavanger, head up to the top of the fjords; the view of the town from 1,000 feet up is great!

zz59, thanks for sharing your adventure with us!  My mothers parents are from Norway.  It is funny that so many Norwegians speak English now, my mother was born in the United States but could only speak Norwegian until she 5 years old.

My fathers parents are from Dummer, Germany near Lake Dummer.  Dummer is also my Sir name or last name.  I would really like to take a trip to Norway and Germany some day and your great pictures have made me want to spend time there even more!

Great pictures, I have never been to Norway, but I've spent 3 years in Germany back in the mid 70's, and you all have some beautiful country side as well.

Beautiful picture.  I was in Oslo only for a day when our Baltic cruise ship stopped there.  I remember a beautiful
City.
