New Paint
« on: July 21, 2006, 09:36:00 PM »

well I picked up my bike today, as many of you know I had the milk dud paint problem, dealer called today and I picked up the bike, it was overcast today so I was a little worried, but you could tell right away the paint didnt have that haze it once had. When I got home I put a light to it and WOW you can really see the red flakes and the blk really looks black.. NO MILKY color,  I know it took awhile but now it looks right, I also had the dealer do the braided crossover gas line, saddle bag lid spoilers which they wired as running lights and turn signals, for some reason they could not run them as brake lights. oh yeah also added the chrome gas tank fitting.  I will post pics when the rain stops...  :(

so hang in there guys waiting for their new paint!!!!!!!!! Good news is on it's way..........

THey just plugged the spoilers into the wrong spot.  You can EITHER run them as turn signals or as brakes when things are stock.  You'd have to add an aftermarker modulator to run them as both.  The accessory connector under the seat has the brake lights in it. Why did they go to the effort of pulling the harness apart and sending each side to the turn signals??  It's just plug and play?!?!?

Glad to hear yo've got the paint squared away.  The black candy crimson is a neat color when it's right.

Or...... that accessory connector got assembled wrong at the factory and the shop wasn't smart enough or willing to put out effort enough to figure out what was wrong.  On the red bike the ground wire was where the right turn was supposed to be and vice versa.  I was making up my own intermediate harness to the back end so found the difference immediately (fortunately).  But if someone was only trained to plug and play something like that might give them fits.

:D  Good to hear about the new paint, I am anxiously waiting for mine to come in.  Was there any problems with the dealer disassembling the bike to install new parts?

Not at all, the only thing I wish they would have done differnt was the spoilers I wanted them to hook them up as running, turn singles and brake lights, they hooked them as running and turn singles. I was told they could not run them as brake lights. well at least I got good paint now.... The paint looks real nice, once the rain stops I will try and take some good pics.......

The lid lights can run as run, brake, and turn. I have done it on several bikes. It is not plug and play so the normal HD (no nothin') tech may not be able to figure it out. You need the run/brake/turn module from HD, and the wires need to be spliced into the harness.

it is hard to take pics of the depth of the color, but it looks great, deep dark color with red flake that shows through, and the clear coat is clear. [smiley=banana.gif]

;D  Looks great, glad the new paint is working.  I had my right saddle bag lid replaced yesterday under warranty...paint was peeling off.  Definitely can see a difference in old versus new paint.  I am waiting for all the parts to come in to rplace all parts with the stripes.

Changed mufflers also, took off the stock and had Screaming Eagles put on...big difference in sound and performance.  Once the new paint is on I may keep this scoot!!!!!
