Garage door opener/receiver catches fire
« on: April 05, 2012, 01:31:25 AM »

 >:(  I don't know where to put this but here. Mine worked fine for about. 3 months.  I could not get it to work. I took the back off the china part an it had been on fire!  It is a wonder it didn't burn down my house! Has any one else had a problem with their door opener?

Only that it will not work. I have wired it every way suggested here. Have a 2012 door opener so the interface should be good... there is a 'gremlin' in there someplace.
With what you have found, I am not going to pull mine apart and look. Thanks...

Mine is working fine. Took me less than 5 minutes to install and pair, works perfect everytime.

Not disagreeing with what you see but to meet UL approval for home use the unit is tested & certified not to catch fire.  Now I don't disagree that it may looked all burnt up, & that could be because it had something short out internally & burn up the circuit board, but without actually catching fire.  & yes there could be lots of smoke, proving that sometimes there is smoke without fire..

Don't ask how I know all this, too many years of product testing.

Plugged it in back in Aug '11, and it's worked flawlessly ever since.
