Slinger... good friend

Please say a few words for my good friend "Slinger", a.k.a. Allen who went down on Sunday.

He's pretty beat up, but they took him off the vehtilator today, and he's breathing on his own... lots of meds, and lots of rest.

His wife Charmaine told us he's scheduled for skin grafts on Thursday, and his broken collarbone is still low priority compared to the rest.

I dont know the details of the wreck, but it doesnt sound nice.... at all.

Thanks all.. will pass on to him and his wife who just arrived last night... the message below is an update from her.

Allen Update: Had a motorcycle accident Sun. Nearly amputated his right leg below his knee. Has had 2 surgeries and has one on Thurs. Right shoulder blade also broken. They are still trying to remove his breathing tube. He has to be awake and aware. But he looks good considering his injuries. Only two small spots of road rash on his right arm and some swelling in his legs and eyelids. He should be more alert today since they are reducing his sedation meds. Visiting hours are from 0900-2100 but they ask no visitors between 1900-2000 due to shift change. He is in (Hospital and room number deleted). No phone in the room and I have his cell. Mahalo to everyone for your love and concern. I arrived last night and will be here until the 18th.

Another update from his wife:

He's concious and alert... was supposed to get skin grafts yesterday... shoulder will be last.

Already one rod in the leg.. not sure if there will be more.. I will try to see him today and extend all of your well-wishes.
