Coming soon! New "Sportpipe" from Fullsac Performance!
« on: April 26, 2012, 05:00:11 PM »

Just about to start production on a completely new and economically priced performance headpipe.

Our new Fullsac "Sportpipe" is a radically modified OEM headpipe. I have completely replaced the center plenum with a true 15 degree X collector. Internal passages are hand ported
increasing flow at the transition points in the casting. Black Jet Hot ceramic coating is good to 1500 degrees. Back to back dyno testing has shown this headpipe to produce
power numbers within 2 HP our X Pipe on a 103 stage I build. The Sportpipe is a great option to an X Pipe on a Stage I build where stock cams will ultimately be the power limiter.

I will have these on the shelf in the next two weeks. available outright or exchange.

You saw it here first!

Steve did you seperate or install tubing inside to give each 02 sensor it's own area?

The 02 sensors are separated up until the weld at the beginning of the collector. There are no issues with the 02s cross reading. Let me know if you would like to dyno one.
I'll have Alice ship it out.

Steve,

Is the target market for this pipe the 103 or the 110?   If it is the 110, when will you be testing this against the 110's for a dyno comparison?

The real target is the guy who needs an economical Stage I kit to make his bike cooler and more efficient for normal Touring duty.
If build plans are calling for cams, headwork ect, the X Pipe will still be the preferred choice for most builders regardless of displacement.

The concert sounds like a blast. Good job on getting another pipe created but I'll monitor my email for info on the C model when I come up to bat. Hmmm I'll have to think on this awhile, the Sportpipe might be all I need. Guess there'a difference between need and want.  ;D

We are very very close to getting a second set of welding fixtures online. X Pipe production will double shortly and the wait will be cut in half within the first month,
and then to X Pipes on the shelf again within the second month. If you don't have your name on the list, call Alice. No obligation what so ever to be on the list.

Thanks for your interest.

Steve, I'm on the list for the "C" pipe. I dont really ever plan on doing any head work but may eventually do cams like the fueling 574 and the head gaskets. So should I just wait for the "C" or would this pipe be a good option? Looking mostly for torque and only want to buy the headpipe once.

Steve (and others who dyno tune) I'm seeing videos from youtube where a H-D shop is drilling the pipes and installing a nutsert as a tuning port and then cap it off and install the heat shield. Is this a common practice to tune each cylinder or just an approach this shop uses? Just curious if something like this could be welded in before the pipes get thermal coated or if it's a wasted effort. I can see where it would allow a more direct gas ready but...

Thanks.

One of the Big Selling Points to me for your X-Pipe is the ability to use OEM Heat Shields.

This process of drilling the header under the heat shield was to let us to get both cylinders tuned when a catalytic converter was blocking the way of a sniffer tube. The process worked well however installing a nut rivet on a round surface has it's problems with leaking in a short while. It's like a square peg in a round hole, the expansion and shrinking of the pipe under normal operation loosens the rivet nut and the exhaust leaks. The tool Harley sells to do this job cost around $600.00...another factor that soured me from this process.
I took the 12mm banjo bolt from the master cylinder with an old 12mm banjo fitting from a brake line with a 1/4 tube that I attach my dyno 02 sniffer line on to. The 12mm banjo fitting fits into the existing 02 sensor ports in front of the catalytic converter....both cylinders can be tuned this way without drilling the pipes and spending a fortune on the riveter tool. I have experienced cross talk while tuning the rear cylinder with my method....the front tunes with out a glitch but the rear gives different samples each run which is evidence of 02 sensor cross talk.
Bottom line is just get rid of the stock header and install a good system...the bike will run cooler without the large heat sink of that stock header.

When we throw cams into the mix, the X Pipe will cover the Sportpipe by 3-4 HP with better bottom end TQ. The spread between the two pipe will increase
as power levels rise. The X Pipe will always be the prefered choice when your looking for 100 HP+ with a TQ curve as round as Rosie O'donnell.

Your stock heat shields will go right back on. Assuming a '09-present head pipe.

I think you got that wrong.  The curve is as bing as Rosie's mouth. :D

On another note.  How a PM with the price.  I have my name on the X-Pipe list, but this one looks like it will do the job.

Thanks in advance

Your stock heat shields will go right back on. Assuming a '09-present head pipe.

Thanks for the information. I have a set of stock 09 Heat Shields

The real target is the guy who needs an economical Stage I kit to make his bike cooler and more efficient for normal Touring duty.
If build plans are calling for cams, headwork ect, the X Pipe will still be the preferred choice for most builders regardless of displacement.

I think this was made for me... :drink: I'm drinkin the kool aid on this one...

Steve, spoke with Alice today and left my number for you to drop me a quick line..after looking at this thread, this is the way I'm going...please throw me a PM with $$ specifics, I live in Virginia...just have to find an interim solution till the TTS's are back in stock...

Looks like a nice alternative.  Steve, if I buy this pipe would you have a map for a powervision, or do you just use TTS??

It's Touring only...

The ConV head pipe with decent slipon baffles will make good numbers. The baffle size on the ConV will determine where your numbers shift to on the power band..

Hey Steve. Heard you've been sneaking around mucking up on the HD Touring head pipe again... looks very cool. Hope you've been well my friend.

Doc 1 has recommended that also & suggested to go with the cycle shack, what baffle size you suggest. I am now narrowing my selection. Started first with Rinehart staggered 2-2 but iam not so impressed with the sound so am searching for alternatives

Could we get a moderation move and new thread start in the ConV section please? Don't want to hijack Steve's thread.

I just helped a club member here install one Sunday on his 2012 103 with the  "canned map"......he says it is working great and we have no plans to do any V-tunes at this time.
Saturday is a long club ride and that will give the bike a chance to heat up and we'll see if it behaves.
Header went on like butter. He's not a wrench and is pretty proud of actually working on his own bike!

Hopefully not too silly a question  :huepfenjump3:

On the naked pipe Steve posted a pic of.  The end closest to the O2 Bungs, there is no skirt.  On the coated pipe in the picture on the above post on the bike, you can see a skirt welded on.

What is the skirt for (I am guessing to mount the stock chrome covers???)

Thanks

It is for the clamp of the heat shield, and helps the heat shield line up

Good eye Glenn!

The naked pipe has yet to have the Heat shield mount welded on. I wanted to show the full length of the collector.
The shield mount is actually a piece of the original cat body. We try to build "Green" at Fullsac and not waste anything. :cool26:

Posted in another thread, just adding the gist here in case it's missed.

Does anyone have a comparison, or set of dyno runs on a Sportpipe Vrs the B Xpipe on a 103, stock with tune, or with a stage 1 kit?

Thanks
