WO517 swap complete!!!
« on: June 16, 2012, 05:54:52 PM »

Just spent 12hrs. going internal, with the WO517 bars for my '11 RUSE. Trouble? Brother I had'em. Push, pull, yank, swear, sweat, grunt, gripe, repeat and grind (needed a little extra space where all them wiires been comin' out) etc....but thanks to all the postings on HOW_TO,  I managed to complete the mission. ALL wires fit. I did have to cut the grip heater plug, it would not fit no way, no how. just stripped the wires and soldered them back together. Brake line has plenty of extra, the clutch not so much, it is very tight but works so far on the 20 mi. test run. Great bars ,for me, sit back relax and roll up the miles. :orange:

517s are pretty tall?  Was the clutch line too short?

clutch side. Yeh it is snug. had to unhook it from guide under speedo. but there is enough that it doesn't seem to hamper turning in any way.

thanks all, yes they do look great and feel great, no more pain in the right shoulder. Something strange did happen though. I always hated the return tension on the throttle. After reassembly ( everything went back together smoothly!! ) the tension is almost gone, feels very similar to having the old thumb screw on slightly. You just roll off the throttle like the good old days. Can't figure that one out but I'll take it.. Bike has also changed personality ( yeh strange I know ) but it has turned into a big a** cruiser... Just saying' it is different. I like it very much.
