Ready to Saddle Up Again
« on: June 19, 2012, 02:05:31 PM »

I was prepared to go over a set of RR tracks but what I wasn't prepared for was the crown - or puckered blacktop - right next to the edge of the track which wound up high ending me. Luckily the "only" damage to me was a broken left wrist requiring a titanium plate and 7 screws. My bike handled it pretty well considering there was about $8,600 worth of cosmetic damage. I got my bike back last week and my wrist is almost ready. The shop in Roanoke VA did an amazing job so if anyone wants to know who just drop me a line. Ride safe...

Congrats on your physical and mechanical recovery!  I had a high sider a little over a year ago and seriously tore the rotator cuff in my right shoulder.  Doctor said I tried to hold on to my bike too long!  Glad to hear you are recovering and ready to ride again!  Ride safe!

I was luckier than you when I hit a paved sinkhole on a new blacktop patch one morning. I was just coming out of a small town doing about 50mph, feet on highway pegs when I hit this good size sloping hole. Put there I suppose by a 18 wheeler? The front end goes in followed by a read tire buck in the air that stood me up on the pegs putting the wind shield right below my chest! Next thing I know I'm right back in the seat where I can get stopped! No damage except to my underwear!  ;D Now when I see those patches in the road I really pay attention! Glad your getting back on and be safe!!
