After some extreme research....and weeding through each companies pdf files that I found on the net....this is what I found for my 2011 RGU CVO with stock HK Head Unit and stock amp(under TP).


J & M Rokker 500w(4chan) amp

OK...wait....did I just do 6 hours of research, only to find that Polk is more efficient,
 has less distortion, has more power handling capabilities, ...at 1/3 the price?



I understand J & M is plug and play......and I understand that J & M Rokker speakers are a little larger(though the mount you have to use funnels the sound back down to a 6.5")...I understand all that.....

...but I'll take my $1,000 that I saved ....and figure out the wiring and mounting myself...or have TIF2 help me....LOL

One thing I've always known is...

.......your ears are the best judge....some people like more prominent midrange sound, some like low bass, and some like ear piercing highs.

....but the truth of the matter is...it is still dependent on 2 things...

1. personal preference.
2. normal rate of travel.


If you sit in a parking lot at the local bar often, jamming out to tunes, then you'll want clarity throughout volume ranges.....but...if you never "sit" and listen, yet are often always riding and listening...the wind, road noise, and exhaust, will play a part in your audio listening choices.

For me, I like crisp, clear music at very high volumes(personal preference)....but....I ride mostly on the highway @ 70-90mph(rate of travel)....and at that speed...."crisp and clear" isn't audible.....only "loud" is...

I disagree .... you can get very crisp and VERY clear tunes at 80 - 90mph.
You just won't hear much (if any) low end (but can feel it) - mids and highs can be stellar though.

My system sounds pretty damn phenominal at 80 - 90mph with the caveat noted above.

+1 on what TIF2 (Rich) said.  My experience has been that you can hear tunes very crisp, clear and loud @ 80 mph with a good amp (I use the RF PBR 300x4 amp like Rich) and better speakers.  I replaced the Infinity Reference 6.5" coax and Hogtunes HogPod tweeters with Hybrid Audio Technologies Unity series 6.5" components--Rich generously took on the task of swapping out the HT tweeters for the HAT tweeters in the Hogpod.  The outstanding improvement in sound was due to the speaker change since the amp wasn't changed.

Although you have an RG, HT makes a tweeter pod for the RG and would be worth considering for locating separate tweeters if you buy components.  HT will sell you a tweeter-less pod to save a few $$$.

Also, you can install 6.5" speakers in the OEM tour pak pods provided the speakers' magnets aren't so large that they create a mounting depth problem.  I used the Polk 6.5" DXi's.  The HD Bass Port kit for the tour pak is also useful.

The Polk 6.5" DXi's fit without any modifications?.

Do you know how much more room you had behind/around the speaker magnet?(in case the speaker I choose magnet is a little larger)

No modification required.  As for how much more room may be available to accommodate speakers of greater depth and/or larger magnets, I have no idea.  You can probably do more research to read about other speakers that were too deep/large magnets that didn't fit or required spacers to create more space.

NOT ONLY WILL YOU SAVE MONEY! but if you have a problem with J&M's junk you'll find that they WON'T stand behind their product .I'D us two cans and a string before J&M. just my taught!!
