Ralph Frazier, owner of Frazier's Harley-Davidson in Buford, GA, was killed yesterday as he rode his motorcycle in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. A falling tree limb struck him on the head about a half mile east of the Townsend Wye, WATE television in Knoxville reported.

My condolences to the Frazier family, and the employees of Frazier's H-D.

Dang, talk about timing.  RIP Ralph.  The thought crosses my mind whenever I'm in the forested areas.  tree limbs give no warning.  Hopefully he did not suffer.  God bless and give his family the strength to make it through the next few weeks.

Yeah, Ken. The really weird thing that came to mind is that Ralph would not have been in the position for that tree limb to actually hit him on the head for more than a tiny fraction of a second... and yet it did.

When these kinds of things happen, it makes me step back and really think about how very PRECIOUS and tenuous life really is, and how quickly anyone's life can be snuffed out, without any notice whatsoever.

We all need to value every day that we are given on this Earth, and learn to truly appreciate the MANY blessings we have been given.

Thing is, I've been all trough the Blue Ridge and Appellation mountains when I lived in Atlanta from '85-2000.  Never saw or heard a tree fall in thousands of miles.  It really was a fluke.  Poor kid.  It's good the passenger is okay and wishing her a speedy recovery.

Aren't you near Buford?  Our home was in Snellville.  We did a lot of fishing near Buford on the south end of Lake Lenier.

Live each day as if it were the last...one never knows when that time will come.

This past April, had a mechanical issue with my bike and stopped in to the dealership on my way from Florida to Michigan. It was pouring down rain and not only did they fix my bike, but as I waited the rain out, they took care of several other things. They couldn't have been more helpful. The owner sets that tone.

Very sorry to hear this and my prayers are with his family and friends.

I had assumed that he was riding when it happened. This is just shocking. I have done business with Frazier's H-D many times, as they are only about 15 minutes from my house. I can't imagine the sadness there today.

I offer my condolences again to the family and to the employees of Frazier's H-D.

Yes, Ken... we live in Buford, only a half-mile from the Buford Dam, a 5-minute walk to down to Lake Lanier. We ride across the dam and through the lake park every time we leave the house. We ride among all of the trees in the North Georgia mountains a lot, as so many other riders here do. I guess I'll be looking up a bit more often, especially when we stop. We have taken breaks many times standing in the shade of trees in the mountains.

I'm still in shock about this.

Maybe this type of accident happens more often than we think!

Another guy in the Augusta area was killed the same way this week!
