When IS the Breakout available in the USA ??

We are being told in Australia January /February 2013

On the road "Ride-away" price of $43K Australian !!!  "Only" $26K USD at your end !! What the F**** is it with that ??

Oh but they're taking $5k deposits to "secure" one today at Perth WA Harley dealers...

Enquiring minds NEED to know...

Thanks in advance folks, over to you !!

My local dealer (Dallas, Texas) said they will have them in house mid to late September.  No word on pricing.

Thanks for that info mate

We're ALWAYS behind the times here in WA , means "wait awhile" sometimes

The Las Vegas dealers don't want to sell me one apparently , that's the vibe I'm getting anyways

Any further updates then let me know folks !!

I heard that the exchange rate is 1:1 right now.  That's outrageous! :sauer005:

Tariffs and shipping can account for some of that, but you're being raped.    :vrolijk27:  And here I thought American dealerships were ruthless gougers.  As Ashe (the android in the movie Alien) said,  "You have my sympathies."

5k deposit, are you serious!

That is outrageous, I would find another dealer that asks for a reasonable deposit.. Normal deposit is $500...Well thats what I have paid for all my bikes and will do the same for others to come.

Yes mate, $5K Aussie dollars to "have the pleasure of being in the Queue"

NO guarantee on the delivery date and no guarantee of a specific colour neither !!

Remember the Hype over the Rocker here in Perth WA , 18 months wait to get one, people 'selling" their place in the Q and all that chite !!

Yeah, no "Grey imports" in them good old days, that should change things up a bit nowadays

( For our US based cousins, a "Grey Import" is a young USED Harley imported to Australia through means other than through official HD MOCO imports )

Yes mate, we are indeed being shafted . Why ? "Because they can"

That's why it's my mission to buy one stateside and import it myself

Savings over buying an official import may be close to $10 K Aussie dollars FFsake !!

Unfortunately they can because we keep buying their products, be an interesting scenario if for a short period of time nobody purchased any of their new models ! Daylight robbery !

Trying importing one of your beloved Holdens over here. It isn't easy. At least you have the option of importing some nice toys over there.  :2vrolijk_21:

To Ohiobellboy

I do belive we did "officially" send you our Commodore Ute ( short for "utlity" or PICKUP to you guys !)

Sold as a Pontiac V8 SUV from memory.

Also the 2 door fastback Coupe we called the Monaro here. Corvette V8 motors in all of them

Good cars actually as it happens

On the CVO Breakout , all of the Aussie allocation have been " sold " or had a $5K deposit put on them apparently !!

Might be pure hype , might be true enough , each dealer site only getting 2 from what I've heard...

gmeikle,

If they have all be allocated to deposits I would still put my name down, somebody might pull out.

Here's a short story for you.
Back in 1997 I wanted an Ultra Classic in a certain colour, ready to put down a deposit, dealer looked up on the system and found they have all been sold.
Was asked for my second choice in colour, in the mean time dealer did a ring around and located what I wanted (3931klms / 2442miles away) bike was on hold and after half an hour it was mine.
So I got what I wanted and the start of a friend ship with a number 1 dealer.

Relocating to another state tells a different story.
Purchased a new bike in 08 from the local dealer and all was good until I questioned there workmanship on repairs. Long story...
As time passed I went to the local dealer, asked for a CVO and was told I would not get one this late in the year (May), didn't even look on the system to see if any would be available.
Did my own enquiries ringing dealers and found 4 in Victoria, 3 in NSW within a few hours and didn't bother ringing any further as I found what I wanted. Plus one of the dealers found other CVO's on the water on the way to Australia.
In the month of July, 2 months after my enquiry locally. Got a phone call from 2 dealers out of town to let me know they have just received new stock.

The rest is history.
As for dealing with the locall dealer I have no problems, and look at adding to my collection, however to my discuss not sure I would feel welcome at the local dealer. Another long story...

To Aussie

What state are you in mate ?

I'm (Scottish)Gregg from Perth WA

And yes, you're correct Re some other deal falling over. That's how I got my 2006 35th Anniversary Dyna Superglide

Due to the "tyranny of distance" and the fact that Frasers were the only show in town here for over 10 years I have only ever dealt there.

Time for a change mebbe ?
