My new Corbin seat
« on: September 05, 2012, 06:42:59 PM »

I've had this seat now for about a month and have put just over 1000 miles on it. This was a custom-ordered seat in carbon-fiber leather, gold flame stitching (to match the flame highlights in the paint), and is lowered by about an inch. Removing more material would have compromised its comfort. It was rather expensive at just over $800 after my discount, but I just wasn't comfortable on the stock seat... especially since H-D doesn't make a backrest for it. The seat and pillion come with locks (same key), and everything is very substantial, solid and feels very well-made.

I have to say that the Corbin seat is extremely comfortable. It's not as plush as cushy as the hammock air seat on my previous FLTRUSE, but it's very supportive and absolutely fine after a few hours in the saddle. Surprisingly, it didn't lower me at all over the stock seat, so I'm going to look at either lowered-height rear shocks, or lowering brackets for the rears.

While vacationing in Daytona Beach in June, I stopped by Corbin's building in Ormond Beach, which is about a mile away from J&P Cycles and the largest Harley dealership in the world. Corbin's building had a huge showroom but not a lot of seats on display, and they were able to look up my order and provide an update on it for me. The seat took about 8 weeks from order date to delivery, but it was worth the wait.

I'm not sure if it's possible to post more than one picture at a time, so I'll add 2 more after this one.

Like the seat.  I ordered mine at the Store in Daytona Biketoberfest of 2011, it took about 4 weeks good discounts too.

I had them do the same gold stitching flame job on my seat.  I had corbin on the side done in the gold also.  I have 15K on mine so far and it still looks new.

Nice seat! Have something similar for my Wide Glide. corbin Dual Tour with backrest. They aren't known for theirnfoam and plushness. But they are comfortable for the long rides!

You are right about that! I'm actually surprised at how comfortable this seat is given the amount of foam. But there are no pressure points and it feels like it was custom made to fit me.

Thanks, Dave - looks great! I wish I had thought of having the Corbin logo done in the same color as the flame stitching, so I'll have to save that for the next one. I look forward to putting lots of miles on this incredible seat!

Had a Corbin on my 1994 FLXSTC and traded with 45K miles.  Had one on my 1995 FLHTCU for 39K miles and traded on my Corbin seated 1997 FLHTCU which I sold in 2000 with 65K miles.  I cannot say enough about the Corbin seats.  They feel hard as a rock and you wouldn't think these things would be comfortable for anything longer than 10 miles but let me tell you...they are GREAT.  You will love yours and have many, many comfortable miles on it.  I haven't gotten one for Ginger but it's on the list.... :2vrolijk_21:

What leather did you use?  Is it just the black leather on the seat and sides?  :nixweiss:

Nice seat.  Did you need to remove the rubber strips on the fender for the pillion?

Thanks! The rubber strips stayed on so it still looks good with the pillion off.

Its just their standard leather, and the sides are the same.

The rubber and chrome fender strips are still on the bike.

I rode an FLTRUSE earlier and was reminded of the differences between the hammock seat and something like the Corbin. You sit on top of the hammock seat, and while it's plush and comfy, I've always felt perched on top of it and sitting fairly high. With the Corbin, I sit IN the seat and feel much more a part of the bike. Still love this seat and I'm glad I did it!
