Water in the fuse box
« on: September 22, 2012, 08:34:57 AM »

After washing the bike the motion sensor alarm sounded weak/muted. Pulled the side panel and had water dropplets inside. Pulled the alarm and it was full of water. I shook out all the water and put the alarm in a bag of rice (cell phone trick) for 24 hours and it is back working normal.   Weird that this happened as I wash regularly and the same way each time.   Thinking of putting a sheet of plastic under the seat in this area but not sure if I should ride with with like that or pull the seat every time I wash.   Anyone else noticing this or have another fix?

I remove the seat every time I wash and completely cover the area with an old towel.  I make a point to not directly spray water in this area and always use low pressure when washing.  I have not had any problems with water in the side panels on my ultra.  I usually pull the side covers and hand clean just to remove the dust / dirt the collects under the covers.
