FINALLY! LED Lights for the SERGC
« on: September 27, 2012, 02:57:19 PM »

We all knew it would happen some day.
Today just happened to be the day for mine.
I had gotten a call from the dealer when he was at the 2013 Dealer Show.
"Chip, I had Micheal (parts manager) order you the LED lights for your 12."
They came in today.
Here they are.
First impressions, WOW!
Each headlight has 7 lights so with high beams on you have 14 beams of light.

If you look at the picture above you will see a bar and shield in the center of each light.
When the lights are on (low or high) the bar and shield is lit.
When the key switch is on ACC the bar and shield stay on for a very cool look.

When low beams are on you have 8 beams of light shining.
It's a lot of light shining out.

With the high beams on the low beams stay on plus another 6 lights shine.
That is a total of 14 lights clearing a path in front of you.

If possible I will take a spin tonight to see the pattern of light.
If these SERGC LED's are like the SEUC then the road will be well lit.

Chip, have you had a chance to use them at night?  Have a friend with a 12 SERG skunk and really needs these.  The factory twin bulbs DO NOT do the trick.  He normally rides behind me and I can tell you, he might as well be holding a flashlight for all the light the halogens give out.  No adjustment available either (we tried).  Looking forward to hearing how well they light up the evening rides and thanks for the pictures.  Do like the HD bar and shield extra light there on those....pretty cool.

I got the first set of LED's that came in and will most likely put a set on the 01 SERG.
It appears these lights are back ordered already.
So I may have to wait a while for the 01.

Not yet, just came in today. We all like Bling and I especially like functional Bling. The Bar and Shield lights are very cool.

I will let you know how they work out. Based on my experience with the 11.5 SEUC LED's I think I will like them.

Had a HD led on my 11 street glide and the lights on my 13 are alot better. Rode tuesday night for the first time with the road glide and was really impressed! There didn't really seem like there was much of a difference between high and low on the street glide but there sure is on the road glide!

I'm curious what you you think of them at night. I'm not sold on them yet however in all fairness I do not have a lot of night riding with them yet. That little HD logo in the center is cool though! :2vrolijk_21:

Mike

Wasn't sure if I would have time to check them out tonight.
We do movie screenings and saw the new movie Looper this evening.
But we got home early enough that I took the 12 SERG for a spin.
First impression was WOW, those bright lights would light up a football field.
I think I need to raise them a bit, the low beams go out but have a very clearly defined end of light.
But OMG both are  bright.
A little tweaking and I think they will be perfect.

According to the Harley shop when I checked Tuesday the lights were back ordered till Oct 10th.
Four sets were on order, with two for me.
I'm not sure why but the set ordered at the dealer show showed being shipped yesterday.
And those came in today.
After a short ride tonight, I'm liking them.

Remember reading a fitment schedule for these saying that night work on our classic SERGs.  But the newer light housings interchange in when swapped completely.  So I can't think of a reason why these LED housings wouldn't work either.

I'll not have time to mess with mine for a bit; even if I did have a light here.  So your backorder will probably here in time to let you guinea pig this light on the old bikes.  Will look forward to what, if any, needling little details you uncover.

Looks good on the new bike :2vrolijk_21: .
