This cool bike is on fire.

Jim's bike rides as nice as it looks.  The engine is amazingly quiet and smooth. The open-belt primary makes some noise until it is in gear but the engine quietly purrs. The exhaust has a powerful deep bass thumping sound, pleasant not annoying.

The transmission shifts smoothly and quietly into gear.  At first I thought I missed the gear. No forcing and clunking like the stock Harley tranny.  The bars are higher and closer together and causes you to sit very upright in the seat. But you know you're on top of a Road Glide when you ride it and take a few turns.

While riding I was being extremely cautious and taking it easy I think because of how smooth the engine is. (Plus it's not mine) Unlike my bike, you can't recognize the power of Jim's bike by the vibration of the engine through the seat of your pants. You feel the power of this bike in your arms and shoulders when you work the throttle.  This bike recognizes throttle and wants to take your ass forward leaving your upper body behind. Hold onto the bars for throttling more power under 50mph. It is quick. (Didn't get above that because of location.)

Sadly I only rode through the neighborhood because it was rush hour and Jim was gracious enough to let me try it out. I felt bad because a street I turned down was a terrible pot-holed, sewer repaired patch of nastiness.  The bike easily maneuvered around the worst spots and cornered well.

The stereo is another master of power and clarity.

Oh to split the traffic lanes with the pipes thumping, the stereo blasting, and powering away like a rocket when the light says "GO!".

Man was I grinning when I pulled back into the shop.

Nice ride Jim.  I want my bike to be close to that when it grows up.

After a little coordination with Jim this week I was able to hook up with some friends I haven't saw for awhile....Don & Carol, Andy & Sherry and Jim....and we got some pics of Jim's new bike.

Don & Carol got the $1.98 test ride in the twin turbo diesel.  Don's comment:  "I'm just really impressed with how fast this thing is".  Carol's comment:  "it's the big white truck with a crazy driver". :huepfenlol2:

Don, Carol and I left Andy & Sherry's and hooked up with Jim on I-880 at a pre-determined location and we all headed for the old NAS Base at Alameda.  Waiting for the sun to drop....what photographers call "the golden hour", Don and I both just started shooting photos.  Jim brought his Nikon also.  I imagine between the three of us there was probably over a thousand photos taken today.  Here are some of those that I took....

The aircraft carrier is the USS Hornet...

Hand painted....

You can see the skyline of San Francisco in the background, across the bay....

This photo belongs on the cover of one of the bike magazines.....one of my favorite photos from today....

Nice pictures JCZ. Some of them almost look photoshopped the way the bike pops out of the pic. Seems to me you may have used a flash of some lighting on a few of them. Very impressive. Jock's photo lessons must be worth the beer money.

Jim - I really like the neat wiring job you did under the seat and around the battery area. Some shops leave a rat's nest under the seat just because it's not exposed. Nice attention to detail.

No, same camera and built in flash that I've always used.  Spent a couple hours with a photographer recently....he showed me things with my camera that I didn't even know it would do.  It begins with taking it off of "automatic". ;D

Being a solid one color bike without any chrome or gloss I can tell you it was defnately the hardest bike to capture that I've ever done.  You don't see the literally hundreds of photos that got deleated.  Just a really hard bike to shoot....I think Don and Jim will agree, too.

Sure am looking forward to some of their photos from yesterday. :2vrolijk_21:

Couple comments,
You west coast guys are to tough on Jim, his hair has turned totally gray.
Maybe a move to the right coast would put some color back in.
 :P
Jim, next time you ride that bike get a helmet that matches.
Hmmmmmm maybe a flat black one.

Damn Chip...not just gray but looking pretty thin too ... ;D. sorry but a move isn't happening and I doubt it would help with the color or the thinning :huepfenjump3:

And yes a flat black helmet is coming as soon as I find a N103 or N104 on closeout....
