Breakout shortage ???
« on: November 12, 2012, 07:17:26 PM »

Was in a dealer today asking about a breakout and the sales person whom I have known for 15 years said that the moco has had a issue with some of the parts vendors and that  why the slow down in delivery and no red bikes showing up at dealers    :o :o :o

mine was delayed two weeks due to manufacturing parts shortages, and I know someone on the site picked up a red one in Milwaukee a couple of days ago.  And I was at Mid-Ohio HD this past weekend and they told me their red unit is arriving on Monday(I had been talking with them as a backup dealer in case my deal fell through at my primary dealer), so they are definitely in the pipeline.....

I ordered mine from the dealer on Oct 19th based on being able to take delivery in February.  The deal/special they had was that you could order the color you wanted by Oct 22nd, but had to wait till Feb.  Not sure if delayed parts had anything to do with it or not.  At the time they had a black/silver breakout on the floor(sold).   I end up picking the hard candy/liquid sun scheme.  Seems red is the popular one.

Red being the fastest color, that would make sense.  ;)

Yes looks like red is the most popular colour and it maybe the fastest , but the pagan gold is the coolest as i have said before  GOLD IS THE FUTURE[  :huepfenjump3: ;D

I've had several dealers give me adjusted production numbers. One said it was cut to 1600 and another said to 1400 for reasons I don't really remember. Not sure if they knew what the hell they were talking about or just blowing smoke to try and get deposits.

I know it was 1900 units, then 30% of that was shipped outside of the US, so that means there SHOULD be about 1330 of them in the US.  1330 divided by 3 is 443-ish of each color....and who knows how many are in a Harley Museum basement or touring shows.

I'd put money on the Liquid Gold color scheme being the most popular once this is all said and done.  Maybe I'm also biased because that is such a great paint job!
