I do not have a lot of experience with tuners but seems the popular ones are V/H, TTS Mastertune, Cobra, etc. Looking for something that once it is installed it is done and I don't have to mess around with it again. Any suggestions?
Hi B2B,
I already have my Cobra Fi2000 PowerPro autotuner for the Breakout...received it last week. Cobra confirmed that the part number for the 2012 Softail CVO works fine with the Breakout, so they are using the same Cobra part number as with the 2012 ...692-1626AT.
I have been using this unit on my V-Rod since I bought it back in September. Love it. install and forget it. has only 4 connections: two to the o2 sensors and one to each injector module, plus ground. That's it. It only autotunes during acceleration, and sends a pre-determined AFR during cruise(you can modify this fuel rate via a pod on the circuit board of the unit if you need to add or subtract some fuel for cruising).
The difference in power and throttle response on my V-Rod was very noticable. I actually put on my hi-flow A/C and exhaust on the V-Rod and rode it for a few miles( not too much since it would be running really lean in this configuration), then added the Cobra, and BAM, it was like night and day....
Another reason I like the Cobra is that since you are not jacking with the stock ECU load whatsoever, there can be no finger pointing if a have a warranty issue. Pop off the four connections and you are runninng the bike bone stock from an air-fuel ratio perspective. I know there are some folks out there that like a fueler that allows them to tinker with the setup to allow for the highest performance, and that's great for the folks that like to do that, I'm just not one of them.
I'm going to go ahead and install the Cobra now with my V/H slip-ons, and then it will automatically pickup and recognize the 2-1 full system when I can get it from V/H....
