2009 FLHX-

Took my wife's rear wheel/tire off today to have a new Michelin Commander 2 installed at 20,011 miles.

The wheel bearings felt notchy, especially the abs side..  Dealer pulled bearings and found the inner spacer grooved on the abs side and the wheel looks worn if you look at the very inside of the wheel and not the bearing bore.

Bearings feel fine out of the wheel. 

Is this wheel bad (never have seen a wheel with the bearings out)

What caused this to happen??

The bearings fit tight in bores of wheel. 

The area in question on the wheel is the very inside lip (the smallest diameter part).

Does the bearing spacer contact this area at all or just the id's of the bearings?

The sealed style bearings are supposed to fit tight in the bearing bore.
I can't see the bore well enough to tell if it's ruined. I do see aluminum on the bearing    at the top of your picture. That was done upon removal. It would have been better to heat the area with a heat gun before trying to remove the bearing.

Has anyone measured the bore in the rim where the bearing fits?  There are specifications for how tight a bearing fits in the bore.  Not sure what Harley uses for fit but if the other side is undamaged measure that side and compare the results.  Just my thoughts.
