I was just texted that Randy the beloved Otis has been taken to the hospital. The message I received from Hubbard said that he is going in for Congestive Heart Failure and Kidney Failure. They were taking him in for dialysis right now.

I don't have any additional information on where he is or such.

Prayers to you Randy for a speedy recovery.

I got a text from Hubbard that said, "Talked to him about 11. He said he is very nauseas. He doesn't know the results of the dialysis yet. Later."

Spoke to Marlene this evening, apparently Randy was doing better after the first Dialysis, ate well and the numbers started to come down, but today the numbers started to rise again and he is really nauseated/sick. She stated that if the numbers continue to rise they may/will have to do another round of dialysis.

Just talked to OTIS on the phone. He went through dialysis again last night. He said the Doctor just told him he was a very sick man, and that his heart was weak. OTIS said he wishes he could go home just to get some sleep. Says he has had no rest, and can't get any in the Hospital environment. I really feel for him. My prayers are with him and I know all of yours are, too. Please, stop for just a moment, and lift him up in prayer. Pray for the Almighty to strengthen OTIS, or pray for him in what ever way you pray. Prayer changes things.

Got this text from Carl tonight: "Just left Hospital. Otis is a lot better. He's like a different person. Prayer is working! Let's keep praying. He complained a little about shortness of breath but he was like his old self, talking chit. Lol. He even said he may be able to go to Daytona with me. The Kid spent a lot of time with him today, too. I will contact all yall tomorrow. Hopefully there will be more improvement. Later-HUB"

Randy had his 3rd dialysis this afternoon even though he doesn't think he needs it......he says he feels fine. The numbers were extremely high again this morning so it was necessary. He is looking better so it must be working somewhat. His regular cardiologist had been out of town for the holidays and just got back today. He came to the hospital to check on him about noon today and we feel better that he's back in town and can care for Randy. Heart monitor, EKG & blood work showed some kind of problem yesterday but Randy wasn't having any chest pain. Records have been requested from Duke to compare with what's going on now. Randy keeps insisting he is ready to go home but both the kidney and heart doctor say he is a very sick man.

Spoke to Randy this evening on his cell. He was in pretty good spirits. Says the day after the dialysis he feels great, but then it starts going south. He said they aren't sure what the next steps are going to be, but he thinks dialysis a few times a week is going to be needed. He said that the lasix was helping with the fluid on the heart. He is hoping to get a prognosis / plan from the doctor tomorrow.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good News!

OTIS is being released from the Hospital as we speak! He's going home! Said he felt good, and was looking forward to being back home. He had told me earlier that he was going to talk to the Doctor about having dialysis when he felt he needed it, as opposed to a fixed regiment. I am home now but too sick to type so I'm relaying the message to Marlene to type. I want to thank everyone very much for the prayers and concerns, it means a lot to me. I got home Wednesday night and have been sick ever since. I went today for an outpatient dialysis. It takes 4 hours and I will have to do it 2 or 3 times a week. It wears me out and makes me very sick.

I'll try to keep everyone informed of what's going on.

very very good news Randy, so glad to hear all the prayers helped!

One of my very best friends has been doing dialysis 2-3 times a week in about 4 hour sessions too. I so wish he would take better care of himself. The doctor told him he would have to change his eating habits with doctor saying there are 7 things he couldn't have in his kitchen. My buddy told me he has 6 of them and laughed saying he will never get rid of his toombstone pizza cooker, I just sighed as I looked over seeing he has one of those cookers just like in the bar.

I am doing much better after my accident and really hope to see you this year buddy....Roy
