New Engine from MOCO
« on: January 29, 2013, 11:54:13 AM »

I have had top end noise on my bike since the first 1000 miles. Been in shop 6 or 7 times trying to find out the problem. The engine would rattle bad around 27 to 2800 rpm's. I told shop to fix the noise that I just couldn't stand to ride it thinking it was about to come apart. They decided it was cheaper to just put a new engine in rather than tearing apart and looking for the problem and not finding anything wrong.
So at 9700 miles they put a new engine in. It runs great with no engine noise. I was surprised they did this without a big fight but the HD rep said he would take care of it and he did what he said. Hats off to him for doing what is right. Now I feel good about taking it from Florida to Alaska this summer.

Wow, good for you.  I know it took several tries, but your dealer really stepped up.

I had a noisy motor, too.  At times it sounded to me like blocks of wood were bouncing around in my motor.  Went to two different dealers, and both agreed that it was noisy, probably piston slap.  Both dealers said as long as it's running well, it's normal for this motor.   "When something breaks, we'll fix it."  So, being the patient person I am, I fixed it on my own dime.

Glad you have a decent dealer.
