Took my 2012 Convertible in at the weekend and got a few of my mods done! all with bits i ordered from the States!!!

The photos below are not that great, took them in the underground car park next door!

No, they are the Wards Parts Works Engine Cooing Fans, they work great and i think they look pretty cool also!!
They have a Thermal switch and kick in automatically when the cylinder heads start getting hot, they also kick in when you switch off the engine and cool down the motor in no time! would highly recommend them with the 110 motor!

They are made in the USA, if you search for them on this forum you should find lots of results! lots of the guys on the forum are using them and i am yet to see any negative feedback! highly recommended  
They fit with the stock horn but i decided to fit a Performance Machine - Merc Horn Cover, balances out the look better! imo

Does the cooler only come in Black or do they have an option in Chrome?
Everyone i spoke to said that 2 coolers would be no problem and a pretty good idea! not like your ever going to have it running to cold!!

I am swaying towards the RSD Clarity myself but do love the look of the PM Fast Air!
I am very impressed with the quality of the Performance Machine and Roland Sands (manufactured in the same factory by Performance Machine) so will will try and stick with them for as many mods as possible!

The pipes sound awesome, very happy with them (look, sound and performance) and with the shape of them thats why i went for the Clarity Cam cover! with the Cam cover being fully exposed the clarity cover seemed to be the perfect choice!
I am going to go with the Open Primary! the wife is going to buy me the new Performance Machines model (in Chrome obviously!) for Christmas so the Clarity Derby cover was just to keep me happy in the meantime,
Also going to go for the Clarity Air Cleaner! think it will all work along that same open/clarity theme! will get that on next month!
The only problem now is I'm loving the Convertible as a solo ride so maybe my most expensive mod/addition will be a 2014 CVO Bagger!!!

Hey Charlie,
I talked to my motor guy about those plug wires and he advised me not to get them for two reasons;
1) Plugs are only 8mm which cuts back horsepower. My bike is already at 118hp. 12mm gives you 2-4hp more.
2) Be careful on which wires to use cause they can short out capacitors in your bike. Only three types of wires are recommended they are Screaming Eagle (Harley), S & S, I forgot the last one .

Thanks for the feedback,
I did check this with the tech guy when i took the bike in! he said he had checked these leads on a Dyno and they showed exactly the same as the Screaming Eagle leads!!
I'm going to ask a couple of guys i know and look into it further,
The bike is going in for a tune in a couple of weeks so once its tuned ill get them to give it a run with the Uskool leads and then the Screaming Eagle to see what the charts say!

The part number for the oil cooler is 26157-07
The chrome cover comes as part of the kit,

When you ask for a oil cooler for the convertible, the dealers get confused! the reason being is because the kit i mentioned above is for non ABS bikes! and the convertible has ABS!
Normally the center mounted oil cooler would not fit a bike with ABS but on the convertible the ABS system is hidden so its not a problem!

I was sure of that, they sure get confused even when I contacted John from Newcastle HD he also mentioned that it is not compatible. That a very important addition to the bike especially in our "warm" weather )

Hi Hadye,
Warm weather! Already hit 39c in Dubai today!
I'm mad on trying to keep the motor cooler!
First I fitted the HD Premium Oil Cooler, (first mod I made on the bike!)
Then went on to fit the Wards Parts Works Cooling Fans, they are great, they have a thermal switch that makes the fans kick in at a given temperature when necessary, (direct cooling to the cylinder heads!)also look great! IMO!
My next and final cooling mod will be to fit a Jagg fan assisted Oil cooler to run simultaneously in a loop with the HD Cooler! Just waiting for them to give a Chrome option to keep with the look of the bike!

I am very impressed with the Clarity Line, i saw the video on the RSD web site but still wasn't 100% convinced! anyway i gave them a shot and they are better than could ever imagine! the oil from the windows clears in seconds,
Looking forward to getting the Air Cleaner fitted to complete the look!

I really like the look of the Fast Air, EXCEPT when you get to the welded spout to the flange, completely unacceptable look to me. The other thing that I didn't like about this one is that it appears to have a smaller diameter spout than the Heavy Breather. I didn't want any reduction in air flow for my build.

Yesterday I had a Vance and Hines Pro Pipe and Arlen Ness Inverted air cleaner installed.  Also added an HD tuner and ran it through the dyno.  It looks incredible and I'm impressed so far with the performance.

Mandrew, so did you replace all the leather areas with 2011 Alimigator  or just the saddlebags.  I think the alligator has been the most striking leather so far.  Would like to trade all my lizardskin for like condition alligator as my wife is from Louisiana and I think she was a bit sad when the alligator went away.      Pork..   but she sure likes the gps.

Hmmm, not sure about the size, I just went with the one that matched my model year.
I think it breathes better than stock.  For one, the design allows it to pull air from all angles. Two, I had pretty decent gains after installation and tune (combined with the pipes and se tuner). Granted, since I made other mods at the same time, I cant absolutely claim that the AN alone makes it breathe better.
Pulled 96.6 hp, and the low end performance is noticeably (in the seat measurement) smoother.

I am extremely happy with the looks and the performance.

yes like it a lot  liquid filled gauge I can look down while riding and see the oil pressure and moniter it  however there is 1 drawback  it does get hot ..... don't wear shorts  if ya do while riding

I also noticed you have the digital dipstick! any problems? everyone I know who has had them has ended up taking them back for one reason or another!!!

My digital dip stick only lasted 1 year, then the oil indicator stopped working.  The temp part still works but it flashes "no sensor".   So instead of buying another one I use it manually to check oil and see the temp only.

HD said that only has a 60 day warranty.   

Looks cool though.

I talked to a tech at the local HD SC and he says about 1 or 2 fail out of every 10! not that good odds when they only give a 60 days warranty!!!

Yes it was my fault , because i put my wife into anew scooter .After it was delivered last year,she was unhappy with the whole motorcycle .I promised to make her happy and do some work on it .First i changed the handlebar (she want `s the same i have on my Krypto) .After that she wants a bigger headlight and passing lamps as well .Of course i understand that she needs a engine guard with foot pegs .Now she is half way happy except the paint job. Everywhere she is showing up with her other scooter ( fatboy se 2006 yellow blue ) people stopped to make some pics , and now no one is even looking . What a shame i have to change the color as well .
