Respect to this guy....
« on: May 27, 2013, 10:54:57 AM »

Lane splitting in California is a way of life and many times I've been told that I could thread a needle with my bike but this guy makes me look like an ametuer.  Many of you have rode through this tunnel during the Sturgis Rally and know exactly where it's at...

x2

Went on a Boy Scout trip to Philmont back in 74, from Tidewater, VA by bus.  We had 2 Golden Eagle Trailways with million mile drivers.  They took us thru "Garden of the Gods" in CO.  I remember that as being pretty tight as well.

I know exactly where this is.  I'd hate to meet the bus on the many switchback's into and out of Needles!  And I'd really hate to see the many thousands of newbie riders that attend the Sturgis Rally each year meet it...

Sometimes you just shake your head and wonder.  Just because he can doesn't mean he should.

On that road coming or going to meet either end of that bus would be a hazard in quite a few places.  There may be some impression that he's done that before, even with a spotter walking along behind him, but I'd actually give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he was a professional enough driver not to do it again after he'd stumbled through it the first time.

Reminds me of an encounter with a tour bus in Ireland on a single track road that was made for horse drawn buggies. Good driving from that one, not a scratch one on the bus that I could see.

This place is less than 5 mi. - as the crow flies- from my home.  Anyone doing this is just plain nuts.
I think it would have been great fun to see how they would get out of there if they got stuck!  Maybe kick out the front window?  Go through the roof with a can opener?
