Schuberth J1 Helmet
« on: July 24, 2012, 12:37:56 AM »

I have been reading about what a great helmet the Schuberth is so I had to go try 1. When I tried it on with the face component flipped up, it was the greatest helmet I had ever put on my head but when I flipped the front down, not so much... I just can't get my head (pun intended) around wearing a full face. I went on the Internet thinking that they had to make a 3/4 helmet... Well they do...in Europe... My son is currently playing pro football (American not the sissy stuff...) there so I had him buy me one and is shipping it over now. Anyone have any experience with this helmet? It comes with this funky chin bar that is removable (which of course I will) and does look a little "European" (my son thought i had lost my mind when he saw it) but I am hoping it will end up being the "perfect helmet". Am I nuts???

After a succession of helmets which were fine in the store, but hurt her ears after a couple of hours on the road, we bought my wife one. Finally, no more complaining!  The Schuberth helmets are outstandingly made, and very comfortable (I have a flip-up for the late Fall/early Winter runs).  If the general shape fits your head (fits similar to Shoei, in my experience), you'll love it.

Yes, I do. I have two of them. In my oppinion the Schuberth J1 is one of the best3/4 Helmets, i ever had. One with the Harley Headspeaker-System and another one without. Can only say: fits perfect, is good for our weather and is not so loud.

Looks "European" of course, because I`m German :P

I will admit though I am worried about that "European looking" thing though...

Just recieved it today and it it awesome. Feels great and does not have the look I was worried about. I got it in flat black and I actually like the look of it. Looks much better in person then in pics. Had to lose the "chin bar" though...

I loved the helmet so much that I went "all in" after wearing it 1 time and bought both a C3 Pro and the SR1 (bought that first thinking I could raise the front piece at slow speeds if I hated the full face. Ended up never lifting it..). I will never ride a motorcycle without a Schuberth again...
Want to buy the J1?

Thanks for the update. And if it were a medium I'd be interested.
