Have always rode a Freedom, time for new so I figured I'd try the Clearview Mail Slot. Went for a 50 mile scoot with super high winds, crack the slot open and my unzipped jacket stopped flapping!

Changed the 2" baffles on my Rinehart 4" slip-ons to the 2 1/4" High Flo baffles on my 2013 Ultra CVO Ann. I didn't like the sound of the standard baffles. The 2 1/4" are an improvement. They are a little louder, deeper and have a better "burbling" sound than the old ones. Haven't made a road trip with them but will when the weather clears up and see if they're not too load. Definitely worth the $89.99. Relatively easy changeout. Grabbed the old ones with vise grips, wiggled them a little, and they came right out.

Slapped on a demo Windsplitter shield on the Big Red One and went for a quick check ride.

It was 34 degrees outside, but I had to give this a try around the "block".  I have a a great route with quick access to the Interstate that amounts to about  5 miles that I use for checking things out and doing check rides.

First, let me tell you that 34 degrees is COLD!! - especially down here in San Antonio where we just don't see these temps!!!   :cowboy:

I put on the 7 inch Windsplitter on in about 1 minute - easy install.
To put things to the acid test, I just wore a ball cap (facing forward).

After warming up the bike I headed out down the road - one mile to the Interstate @ 45 mph.
Once on the IH, I got her up to about 70 - 75 for a couple of miles.  I was very pleased that the wind did not try to blow my cap off.  Granted, I was hunkering down a bit - did I mention it was COLD?!!

Anyway, I am 5'11" and my experience is that the 7 inch Wind Splitter is just as effective as the stock 10" shield.

It was a short ride, but I plan to put in some miles to see if I really like it.  My HD parts guy told me to bring the Demo back "whenever" as he knows it takes more than a day or two to really get the feel of a new wind screen.

All I have to say is that my initial impression is very positive and that I think the 7 in Wind Splitter is a good replacement for the stock 10 in. shield.

I think the shield adds a cool factor of  +10 and really opens up the front visibility.   I am looking forward to putting in some miles with the new shield. Even if it does not hold up over the long haul, I plan to get one for every day riding and us the stock shield for touring.

Best Regards,
Mark

rehooked the battery tender and thought DAMM it's gonna be until the 2nd big rain in march or april to kill the salt on the road, feeling that I'm getting old or turning into a big sissy or sumthin 'lived in Indiana scince  07 bought this scoot in 2011 and having grown up and lived in socal used to ride all year. this takes some getting used to, guess I am a sissy or I'd put this thing on the salt and twist it up. :nixweiss:

Looked outside, accepted defeat, connected the battery tender, took one more picture (below), pulled the cover over the bike, made myself an Irish coffee, and started staring out the window! :(

Wasn't today, but Monday we had 65 degrees here in Nebraska and I hadn't been on the SERK for nearly two years.  My brother was killed in a work accident while the wife and I were on the way to Sturgis in 2011 and it just kind of took the wind out of my sails.  Anyway, thought I'd better at least run it for a while before winter sets in.  Went for a short ride and think I'll get back into riding.

I'm sure your brother is smiling from above and I bet he approves!!  Welcome back

Found the source of a new rattle that was driving me nuts...

http://ridingtwoup.wordpress.com/2013/12/08/chasing-rattles-on-both-harleys-its-those-darn-bridges/

Mounting hardware worked its way loose on the cylinder head bridges...

Yea, unfortunately that has been noted here before :(.
