Local dealer changed the front tire after the old one "cupped-out" with 8,500 miles.

What do you think of their balancing job?

You got the dyna beads in your Ruby, Jesse?  Have you had them in there for quite a while and what do you think?

From Dunlop's website regarding balancing.
It is essential that tire/wheel assemblies be balanced before use and rebalanced each time the tire is removed or replaced. Unbalanced tire/wheel assemblies can vibrate at certain speeds, and tire wear will be greatly accelerated.
All Dunlop street tires should be installed with the balance dot at the valve. Wheels may be balanced with spoke nipple weights, lead wire or self-adhesive rim weights. Consult the motorcycle manufacturer for approved wheel weights.
Dunlop does not recommend the use of dry or liquid balancers/sealers and will not warrant tires into which these materials have been injected. Tire and wheel assembly balance must be checked with a balance stand or computer wheel balancer.

Then I'll buy a new tire if that time comes.  Too many ugly weights and too many falling off and damaging fenders.

I've got an appointment at another dealer who's 30 minutes further from the house to do a re-balance and otherwise double check the work.  It's not as conveniently close to where I work as my former service center, but...   Well, I'll leave it at that.

I like that .... "my former" part, bikes cost us way to much to settle on shoddy workmanship from the dealers. You're lucky you have choices unlike some of us.  :(

Personaly I would have taken the old weights off and cleaned the glue residue off myself. requested chrome weights be put on when balancing.
We have CVO's for a reason, we are just dam fussy and take pride in our bikes.  ;D

The rest of the story....

Interesting reading. I see you have a comment on it already from someone at your former dealer.
You're dead on about the customer service aspect of things. I use a different dealer than what I started out with a little over two years ago because of similar issues.

I was glad to see someone at the Dealership actually commented, hey that's a step in the right direction. As has been said I too have had less than pleasant visits to my local dealership. Unfortunately there aren't many options for visiting others.

Great blog article... I think sometimes dealerships work on so many bikes they forget how special your bike is to you as the owner - big mistake. My local dealer is close to home, next is well over an hour away so I hope things remain friendly.
