Another thing to think about in cold weather riding. If you aren't riding far enough to get that oil good and hot you will need to keep an eye out on the oil. It will build up condensation and contaminate the oil.

If you are going to be riding in the cold with any regularity or if you are going to be riding a long distance on a cold day, invest in some Gerbing heated gear. Gloves and vest or jacket at a minimum. They make all the difference in the world.

X2 - I don't ride to extreme cold temperatures, but Gerbing has so many size options, that you can find the perfect fit no matter what your body size is.  If you buy the socks, go up a size, they are tight fitting mo fo's otherwise, but I like them better than the boot inserts.

Gerbing all the way. Save the money on the seat  If your butt is warm the rest of you will still be cold .   I think the clothes are cheaper than seat and grip warmers anyway .    I just use heat packs for the boots as I only need them when it gets below 30 and we are on Interstates.       Billy

FWIW, I don't care for the socks.  I prefer their heated insoles, as they don't bother my feet as much.  With a decent pair of boots and wool socks, I've never had cold feet.

If anyone's interested in a pair of Gerbing's socks, I've got a pair that fits my size 12s I'd be happy to sell.

A warm butt means warm blood circulating.

I'm a firm believer in heated clothes, but, the seat and grips do a fine job before the heated gear is needed.

Heat up the torso, that fakes the body to keep blood flowing to hands and feet. That's the first circuits to get shut down when the body cools down.

I wear my camo waterproof insulated hunting boots when it's cold out.
