Performance
« on: January 02, 2014, 06:22:11 AM »

Hi there

I tried to find something in the board and the net but I can't find much so I'd like to ask the cracks here.

The CVO BO has less HP and torque compared with e.g. the CVO Road King. The international configuration of the BO has less 9 HP and less 9 Nm of torque than a RK in int. config.

What could be the reason  :nixweiss:  Thanks for your inputs.

Cheers

Two main reasons:

1.  The Breakout has the counterbalanced "B" engine and the Road King has the rubber mounted "A" engine.  The counterbalancers are a parasitic drag when it comes to power, and on top of that Harley tunes the "B" differently to keep rpm's lower.

2.  The exhaust systems on the Touring models help those engines produce more torque compared to the exhaust on the Softails.

Beat me to it, Jerry... :2vrolijk_21:

You can improve things a bit by putting a better exhaust on the bike and getting it tuned, but it will always produce less HP/TQ.

However...the bike is a hell of a lot lighter, so how things "feel" on your butt dyno are likely not much different, and in fact, the softail may feel quicker.

My 2014 BO has CNC work on heads, S&S 551 cams, lifters, pushrods and roller rocker arms with V&H big radius 2x2 exhaust.  Strong low end with 118-120 Tq 3000 to 3600 RPM.  Drifts down to 110 Tq at 4500.

Not a racer but great rideability.

I see, thx for the quick answers. I will sit and wait for the delivery of my BO in April and check the performance before dreaming of engine tuning and dynos. I am really looking forward to feel that torgue.

As we are in the performance discussion

I was told the engine of the 2014 model had more power or torque than the 2013 models? My dealer said the engine of the 2014 had been re-worked? Can anyone confirm this?
