This is fairly incredible...

A 1.5 liter 3 cylinder turbocharged motor weighing 88 lbs. revving to 7,500 rpm and producing 400 horsepower!  This is a prime example of how racing by manufacturers benefits commercial automotive development...

well, that is awesome and all, but when is it gonna find it's way into the consumer market?

Historically, these advances find their way into production vehicles in some form surprisingly fast...   As interesting as the motor, is the fact the same car can also run entirely electrically...

The Japanese are far more involved in this technology than other manufactures.  Both Toyota and Nissan are at the leading edge, and both are using Le Mans series racing cars as their test bed for the technology.
