'Was always curious about that myself?

The GM at my Dealership was the first one that I heard the term Switchblade from.

We always referred to the '01 as "The Red Bike"

I have a November 2000 issue of American Iron with an article about having an opportunity to ride a FXDWG2 prior to the official public showing at Sturgis August 2000.  It stated that the bike would be available "next year" (2001).  Seems the magazine was a bit late about publishing this article.  No where is the name Switchblade mentioned.

I have a February 2001 issue of Hot Rod Bikes that calls the bike Switchblade on the cover and in the text but makes no mention of where that name comes from.  It states that they got access to one of the first bikes that came to California for the photo shoot.

As a '01 Switchblade owner, I have researched this subject as well. Haven't seen anything official from the MoCo but legend has it that Switchblade was Willie G's name for the FXDWG2. FXDWG3's go by the same moniker as only a few changes were made between years (colors, rear tire size).
