Advice On Installing Apes On Breakout
« on: March 05, 2014, 05:12:52 PM »

Putting 12" Todds Cycle Strip Bars on and have a few questions.  It appears that I'll need to pull the tank to get to the wiring harness quick disconnect, is that correct?

I'm also going to move the turn signals to the forks, is there a kit for this?

For those of you that have already done this mod, all advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cowboy

You can unbolt the tank, and just slide it up and to the rear to get access to the plugs.  They are on either side of the neck of the frame.  Just be careful with the crossover line under the front of the tank.  The clamps on it will scratch your rocker box cover.  I just wedged a piece of cardboard between them when I did mine.

As for the signals relocation, you need to find a way to mount them.  There are lots of places that sell clamps that hook on the fork tubes if you want to go that route.  Your fork tubes are 49mm, so be sure you get the correct diameter.  For the wiring, there is a vacant connector for just that.  It is n the right side of the frame right at the neck.  Your local dealer should have the pins for the end of the wires, as well as the other half of that connector.
