In MapSource and BaseCamp you are planning routes with the same map database that is in your Garmin GPS.  That is not the case using the H-D Ride Planner and I would think not so with Tyre.  I've uploaded several routes from Ride Planner that were not correct when I got them to my Road Tech Zumo 660.  Even though I did not create the routes in Ride Planner I did view and confirm them in Ride Planner.

But once uploaded some of the waypoints were off.  Off the actual route enough that the Garmin would instruct me to make a turn, then do a u-turn and come back to the correct road.  After that experience I always upload them into MapSource and double check them before sending to the GPS.

Anyone else ever have this problem?   :nixweiss:

Have not used a route in Tyre with lots of waypoints. Will try a dry run before using on a important trip! Thanks Ufxr

At least with Mapsource you have to make sure the map version number matches your GPS and on your PC.
Otherwise you could get error messages when trying to run a route downloaded - "streets don't match"

True.  I made the assumption (I know that is dangerous  ;D) that one would have their GPS device and their computer both updated to the same map set.  But I think the 'default' setting in Garmin Express is to update the GPS device only.  You have to make a selection to update both the device and the computer.

You have to make a selection to update both the device and the computer.

That is what I have found with my particular model. And due to file size, I have found it better to download to both the device and PC, but as individual operations.
For me, that has been the best way to get the same exact map set on both.
