Purrrrrrfect Sounding Mufflers

The Screamin Eagle mufflers I was looking for and found at Chicago H-D are purrrrrrfect as to sound.TV is boring and the site wasn't real busy, so I figured I get em on Los Dragon. Man am I happy with it. Any of you folks looking for that really classic H-D rumble without too much volume, these are the babies. [size=14]65115-98B[/size], no longer in the catalogue but available at those high volume parts dealers like Chicago H-D pick your own style of end caps ( I went with the Double Groove). If you just bought a new 110 ( or have a 103 still stock) and only want to do breather, SERT and muffs, you will not be disppointed in the sound of these.They used to be what H-D recommended in the dyno section of the Screamin Eagle parts catalogue.

Glad you found the perfect exhaust for your scooter, but shouldn't the sound be "potota, potato, potato instead of "purrrfect? ;) ;D

BTW - Harry I do have to sleep every now and then. :P :) Plus the board is new, so it will take some time for people to get used to it being here.

B B...Glad you are happy with the muffs...I too like the sound of that particular part number...the one's without the billet end caps do not sound the same...more "tinny".  Your are correct, the SE's have a nice throat to them.  I have a pair I just took off to put the RH's on, so I'm going to hang on to them for a while since they're getting hard to find.

Those mufflers do sound good when they're new, but they burn out pretty quick and need repacking.  I had some and loved them, but when I went to true duals they, didn't sound as good to my ears. Made them higher pitched rather than lower.  Kerker/supertrapp made those mufflers for HD, so they're still available from them.  The ones they're marketing as the supertrapp SE's are I think the old touring muffler, for the 69115's you just have to order a different baffle.

Big B, got a pair of these off 103Thunder a few months ago and really enjoy them as well.

Purrrrfect for long rides when you don't want to get worn out from your exhaust pounding in your head but great when you get on it and want to hear the rumble.

I tried to stay stock after having modified pipes on every bike I have owned, but just couldn't do it.  Had to have some exhaust note.

Well that explains a lot. Bought mine used, with 2,000 miles on them, and they sounded great. Then after another 6,000 miles they seemed to get louder and had more bark. I thought it was my ears and old age!  :-/

Barely 5000 on them.  Still like them though...

fwiw,   There is a Kawasaki dealer close to my house and I've bought a muffler repacking kit from them. I think it's brand FJM, but not sure. It has three types of material and rope to tie it for install.  Seems like it's about $40. Seems to last a little longer, especially if you use the mesh screen to protect the packing from blowing out.
