Just came home from visiting Gertie. She is in a million peices, glad I don't have to put her back together. Only one real change from the original plan and that was to change to the [highlight]V&H true duals[/highlight] since I already had the V&H slip-ons. Brian did find some small problems that they replaced under warranty, like the oil pump, OEM badly scored. Should be ready next week. If it doesn't warm up, I may have to sit and look at her, 19 is too damn cold!

Well, if you're doing true duals, you need more chrome!

You should consider doing the chrome vent line, oil filler, starter solenoid cover, and neutral switch cover to dress up these areas that will become suddenly apparent after losing the stock crossover pipe!

Well, if you're doing true duals, you need more chrome!

You should consider doing the chrome vent line, oil filler, starter solenoid cover, and neutral switch cover to dress up these areas that will become suddenly apparent after losing the stock crossover pipe!

And even if others are put off until later; the oil filler housing now.  Get it done while the pipes are off out of the way.  The others are easy and can be done in a couple minutes anytime.  The filler spout is definitely a "do it now" thing though.

Also can you advise if a better time to do this would be during an oil change? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Yeah, there are a couple screws that the pipes cover up, Gary.  It might be do-able with the right wrench.  I'm going to take another look on mine later today.

Should be able to do it without draining the oil.  Pretty sure the level is well below the bottom of the hole that's there when you remove the filler cover.

Ok, thanks. I'll be waiting to find out how it works for you. If it does require removal of the pipe(s) this may be an accessory that gets put on next time I have bike serviced. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

No Brian I haven't.  At least not yet.  Honestly didn't know if the recent work would be more than the clutch might handle or not; though that it might be close would not surprise me.  Was just going to ride it some and let the bike tell me what it needed.  

Had hoped to actually do a fair bit of riding this afternoon.  But work up this morning to some back discomfort and spasms.  Took a pill to knock it down some.  But I don't ride when I take a pill; at least not those pills.

Will have what promise to be some other even nicer days a little later in the week though.  So it will get ridden soon and I'll get to begin getting a feel for the red bike is really doing now.  Will let you know if I sense anything out of the way down there when I do.
