Hahaha, never saw anybody with a pet skunk before. What are those like for a pet? I would imagine you had it de-scented, right?

In a week's time it seems the new guy has settled in admirably.  This is 90 pounds of "hell yeah I'm good."

It also seems Marley the new guy and the housemates here before him are doing quite well together.  In the literature shared among the rescue Greyhound groups is a warning that rescued racers will likely not sleep well together; at least not for a long time.  Growing up in the very regimented kennel environments of the race tracks one of the few things they have that is "theirs" is a place to sleep.  So the warning is that is one thing they will often not share well.

Well....  last night I went to sleep warm and cozy and stretched out without hinderance to move around however the hell I pleased.  Woke up this morning covered in sweat to find myself somehow surrounded by and wormed in between this.  Was being spooned on three sides.  Bastards....

Don, somehow I don't see you putting this group out in the yard. They are beautiful. Can you teach them to chase siblings?  Or get the sibling to wear a bunny suit.  :2vrolijk_21:

The one place off limits in our house is the bed - For the longest time pups weren't even in the bedroom. It is hard enough keeping dog hair off a dark uniform without having them spreading the fur all over the bedroom.

But - when I retire - all bets are off  :orange:

You are soooo incredibly right.  Greyhounds are not outside dogs.  And they will let you know it.  For a little while, when the weather is too they're liking, and they have a mind to, the outdoors is a wonderful place.  But the inside with its soft surfaces and ready food and water is a muuuuch more wonderful place.

It would be so nice, however, if they could chase siblings (I've only got one).  When they do chase and catch they are sooo good about bringing the capture right to the door and are so proud of what they've done.  I can close my eyes and imagine the sibling, drunkenly grinning and hanging there in the big dog's jaws, just waiting to be dropped indoors.  I'd toss her back outside and tell the dog to go play the game again!
