Kathy and Brian my heart goes out to both of you. I am a dog lover and had to put down my Shepard when I was in my twenties. Gretchen couldn't walk the displasia was so bad and wasn't keeping any food down so it was a decision we made just like you. It sucked and I balled like it was no bodies business. Things will get better. Enjoy the holidays the best you can. Later,Q

B B, I know of what you speak.

I have Harley and Annie at the office today as we were having a laurel hedge trimmed and the dogs couldn't stay in the kennel.

If Harley was n't so much a handful it would be fun to have them here all the time.

Annie is very old in boxer years and Cindy and I often wonder how much more time we have to share with her.

Wow, a lot of people have lost pets or had them injured recently.  We had a dog (Elke) we had to put down this past summer after having her for 14 years.  She was the most traveled dog in the world as she moved with us from Pennsylvania to Italy, visited Germany/Austria/Switzerland, moved to Maine, then moved back to Pennsylvania.  My youngest son who is now in college can not even remember a time before we had her.

She got a progressive nerve condition (similar to MS in people) and the hardest decision we ever had to make was to put her down.  I still can't bring myself to walk over the place in the hallway where her kennel was.  We still have her dog collar (Harley orange and black of course), a picture of her and one of her toys on a shelf near where we used to keep her kennel.

My heart and sympathy go out to all of you who have suffered pet loses or injuries.

I truly apologize to all who have lost their animal friends and posted about it recently for my seeming lack of sympathy. Every time I start to write something I get water running from my eyes thinking about how much longer I have to spend with Mickey the wonder dog. He's been with us for almost 13 years and the thought of life without him - - - - - - well now maybe you understand why I haven't posted on this thread.

B B

We all understand Brian, no need to apologize. It is always hard to think or talk about it but sometimes it does help to talk about it with others.

Kathy...you are correct.  It does help to talk/write about it.  In fact, there would have been no way for me to talk to anyone about what was going on with my buddies, as they wouldn't have understood me between the sobbing, but I was able to write about it....it helps, Brian, and I hope your bud stays with you for as long as is possible.  You'll know, and you've got people here who understand and will support you when that time gets here.

Just an update on my sister's cat, KK the amazing cat.  He's hobbling around on 3 and a fourth legs, doing great.   :2vrolijk_21:  We were at my sister's this weekend to celebrate the Holidays.  Attached is a picture of KK playing the piano.   :)
