I have a cousin who's a vet and he along with a friend of mine who was immersed in rottweliers before you could buy them here in the states both believe that the purebreds are weaker although they can't put their finger on why!! I've owned Rotts going on a little over 20yrs. My first dogs were healthy as a horse as they say. the male and female I own now are both sickly although they show few outward signs to the unsuspecting. I might be dogged out at this point!!!!!  :huepfenlol2:     :drink:

It's called in-breeding! Never got more than 8 years out of any large pure bred dog unfortunately. (I never had a small dog)

Howie...it seems to happen more when a particular breed becomes "popular" with the masses, and dogs are bred for the wrong reasons, tending to pass more of the genetic faults.  As you well know, Rotts are not a breed everyone should own, like so many other breeds of dogs.  The Germans, for some reason, tend to breed strong dogs, particularly the Shepherds and the Rotties...also the Dobies, but a person is going to pay some pretty good money for a German bred dog.

Our beagle, Sophie, is very pleased about Uno winning the last dog show.

My son's dog, a pug named Mary, is a little jealous, but seems to be dealing with the disappointment as best as she knows how.   ;D ;D A few drops of beer & she goes to sleep a happy pup.  :2vrolijk_21:

It was cool to see Uno win, and he beat some great competition.  I've never seen the crowds react so positively!

Do not recall a beagle winning before Uno.

My sister & I both have beagles.  Wife had one when we dated, back in 1793.  Maybe it was 1973.   :nixweiss:

Winter in Chicago sucks... The harleydog needs to stretch his legs too.
It is over 30 degrees today so out for a quick spin.

Harley's been getting out in the snow this year and really is liking the fact it has a frozen layer to run on now.

Yes he is.  Nicely marked and built well.
