as of tonight we are now a 1 CVO pet family, after almost 17 years it was finally time for Gretchen to move on

Neal

Sorry to hear about that. I remember meeting Gretchen and thinking about Nancy's pup Nick. He's about the same age and like Gretchen had been with her forever. Any thought on another one? Sorry for your and Sue's loss.

On a lighter note, Neal has another dog that eats corncobs. We were having dinner and he threw a corncob off the deck and whoosh, it was gone.
Never seen a dog that would eat a corncob.

Sorry Neal.  Always sad when that happens.  Was it just generally old age or did something specific occur?

Here's a chart for dog's age vs human age...it varies a great deal based on the size of the dog.

Very interesting. It got me to thinking and I found the same thing for felines here: http://cats.about.com/cs/healthissues/a/agechart.htm

I guess that makes our oldest 92 this summer. :)

Neal,

Really sorry to hear about your recent loss.  17 years of good times cannot be discounted.  It is also a long time, but I am sure that it passed quickly even so.  Perhaps a new pup is in order.  It sure seems to help and amazingly so.  Sometimes it takes 2 pups to help get over the loss of one pet.  I wonder if that's how we ended up with 4?  Seriously though, our thoughts go out to you and Sue.

Neal, so sorry to hear about your loss.
Take comfort in knowing the love and care you and Sue provided gave her such a long, full life.
My heart is still broken from last year... I search sites like this
http://www.petfinder.com/
There are so many dogs that want homes... it is hard to fight the urge to fill the void, I guess that's how special these relationships are.

Sorry to hear about your loss. We have lost 3 pets in the past 3 years and it always leaves a big void in your'e heart.
To lighten the subject, here is a pic of our Ruthie and our new Wags dog trailer for those who did not see my other post. A couple jealous nieghbor dogs looking on. We took her on a 325 mile trip on Sat., drew lots of attention, and she seemed to have a great time.

Trapperdog,

It's awesome that you are able to bring Ruthie along in her new Wags trailer, but with that Rinehart 2-1 exhaust, is she deaf yet?  She sure looks like a sweet dog!
