Mickey the wonder dog is fine. Nothing unusual going on, but lately he seems to spend more time closer to me when I'm around the house so I pay more attention to him. He's a boxer/dalmation mix and will be 13 on July 4th. He might have been born on the 3rd or the 5th since the folks we got him from were away over the holiday when he was born. We got him when he was about 6 weeks old. Coolest dog I've ever had. Smartest too. And even now although he's quite old, he still likes to play a bit and gets moody if nobody pays him attention to him I can't imagine a time when he won't be there anymore so each day I spend with him now is precious. We don't own him of course, he owns us and not a day goes by that I am not thankful for being one of his humans. He is wise beyond measure, patient beyond reason, loving beyond comprehension and faithful beyond words. He is my best friend and I am his. He reminds me of the little boy in me and I love him very much.

Well said Brian.  We can only strive to be the man our dogs think we are....... (forgot where I read that)

TREAT ME KINDLY

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend,
For no heart in all the world is more
grateful for kindness than the loving
heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick,
For though I should lick your hand
between blows, your patience and
understanding will more quickly
teach me the things you would
have me learn.

Speak to me often, For your voice is
the world's sweetest music, as you must
know by the fierce wagging of my tail
when your footsteps fall upon my ears.

Please take me inside when it is cold
and wet, For I am a domesticated
animal, no longer accustomed to the
bitter elements. I ask no greater glory
than the privilege of sitting at your
feet beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with water, for I
cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food that I may stay well,
to romp and play and do your bidding,
to walk by your side, and stand ready,
willing and able to protect you with
my life, should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old, and
I no longer enjoy good health, hearing
and good sight, do not make heroic
efforts to keep me going.

I am not having fun. Please see that my
trusting life is taken gently. I shall
leave this earth knowing with the last
breath I drew, that my fate was always
safest in your hand.

:)  It used to be in my signature.   :)  Although I do not lay claim to original thought.  I forgot where I learned of it.  Anyway..............

Springer is home and resting well.  The vet took a huge hunk from his chest skin.  Hopefully we'll have the pathology report by Friday.  Poor guy was pretty loopy when I picked him up from the vet.  That pain injection has him reeling from side to side.  He looked like a drunk when he staggered out back to take a leak earlier this evening.  He gobbled his supper with gusto, so it shant be long until he's back to normal.  He and his sister are happy to be back home and have grounded Renea and me from travel until at least Maggie Valley.  They're homebodies.  It's good to have them home.

We have several good ones gathered over the years from our rescue work

The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

Anybody who doesn't know what soap tastes like never washed a dog.

She's about 9 years old now. Its getting harder for her to go up stair etc now, but we give her vitamins for her hips and bones.
She is loved so much by the whole Family, we can't ever imagine not having her in our lives.

I want to see pics of that beautiful dog of yours

If my daughter stays home for more than 5 minutes (she's back home for the summer pre Columbia U in August)  I will see if I can get her to cough up a couple from a file she has.
