US Customs---was 15 miles past the Canadian Customs.  I was really disappointed when I got through customs.  I was looking to get several good pictures under the Alaska sign. Guess what---there was none!!!   They had some sign in the ditch on the left hand side of the road that you couldn't get to.  I think I'll write the Dept. of Interior when I get home with a "suggestion"..  They surely have the land and space for a nice area.

I stopped for gas 5 miles from Customs and went to prepay, gave the guy $20 to hold and he said " got any American money?"   My mind was still in Canada doing road construction.

90 miles from Customs, I arrived in Tok (long O), AK.  I knew they have 4-5 motels and it was early since I am now 3 hrs ahead of my sleep time.  I stopped at the first one and they had a sign out: Full. She called the others and I literally got the last room in town.  Someone had cancelled 40 min. earlier. At least I made the other guy happy, cuz now he wouldn't get charged.

Tomorrow is Fairbanks and my wife:  can't wait

Say, any "Gold Rush" fans out there:  picture from the phone book of Haines AK

Well thanks alot Indenial!!!! You just pushed one of my bucket list rides to next summer. After looking at your pics, this is a trip I gotta make so need to do it next year (Canadian Rockies this summer) to make sure it gets done. What were the normal daytime temps? Need to pack heavy? Thanks for taking us along.

This is like a story you never want to end. You convinced me on taking the trip in 15, three weeks already set aside for the trip. The return pics should be just as good. Looking forward to see what's next. Good times.

That's one hell of a great trip.  I would sure like to give it a try next year.  I better start planning now!

CVO Harley GTG to Alaska?  maybe?

Hey 2K, I've been enjoying your Avitars now for some time. Keep up the good work!!!   I'll be posting an equipment list toward the end of my trip. So stay tuned and I'll answer questions then.  But 40-50 in the mornings and 50-60 in the afternoons.  Not short sleeve weather though.

DAY 8-- Short day to Fairbanks, 250 mi.  Rained the whole way. I was grateful though, people in the resturant at breakfast said bikers got caught in snow yesterday a little further south. I was happy for the rain. Found out my Bates Gortex boots leak. So now I'm looking for a better pair---any help out there? What works?

Guess I took these early before the rain, just to get a couple of road shots. Saw a moose, but couldn't get my camera out in time.

Lots of empty rivers here. I'd like to see them when the spring thaw happens.

Stopped at the North Pole and talked with Santa today. Had a great talk. He wanted to trade Rudolph in for a Road Glide, but then thought about the snow and changed his mind.
