My wife's flight from Minneapolis was delayed by 6hrs. I think she will be here at 1am her time or 4am my time. Hope I don't screw it up.  I guess we sleep after she gets here. Took my bike to the Harley dealership for an oil change--3500 miles to here. Also, had to buy T-shirts.  Will pick it up Monday when we get back. The dealership is across the street from the motel, so it worked out nice. Got a rental car for the 4 days.  The plan is to drive to Talkeetna to see Denali. But it's only viewable 30% of the time and with all the rain here we may only see clouds.  You'll have to wait and see---(as will we)

If you have time you should take a trip into the park at Denali, even if you don't see the mountain you are sure to see some amazing sights. I spent 2 days hiking/camping there 2 years ago, saw the big mountain a few times but that paled in comparison to all the wildlife and other scenery. Went up on a plane from Talkeetna that was supposed to land on a glacier up on Denali but the cloud cover dropped too low, we still saw a lot of the lower glaciers, awesome sight from above. Weather is definitely unpredictable there, I was in snow on the 4th of July. I highly recommend a meal or 2 at the Roadhouse in Talkeetna, I stayed in a room there for a couple of nights, interesting place with lots of history and awesome food.

I have a co worker who is leaving this weekend for two week trip to Alaska and back on his Road King.  After seeing these pics I am going to have to re think for next year and plan to go farther north.

DAY 9--Well, Carol finally got here, 6 hrs late due to weather in Mpls.  She got here at 1:30 Alaska time, 4:30 home time.  Well, some idiot friends called at 4:30 Alaska time and woke us up from a sound sleep, to which you can never return.  I should say former friends.  Really tired today.  We had a nice breakfast and got to the park. Started out cloudy and started to clear.  Bought our park tickets and drove the 13 miles into the park.  Not a revelation, just a road like we had been on all day. No wildlife or anything exciting.

As it continued to clear, the day got better. Carol does that for me---she's good luck.  The clouds lifted and the mountain appeared. It was magnificant to say the least.  There is a north and south viewing area, both of which have good views, just different angles. They are about 50 mi. apart. I like the south one better, as far as the angle went. But a cloud had moved into the way and we didn't want to wait for it to pass, as it was getting late. Talkeetna had a nice viewing area too.
