rinehart exhaust 02 sensor plug
« on: July 05, 2014, 01:01:09 PM »

Have 05 electriglide with 30K miles and true duel exhaust, never any problems. Have 06 Streetglide with tru duel exhaust never any problems with 20K miles until last week when the 02 sensor plug came out, no issues with the exhaust pipe itself except when i tried to thread it back in it has expanded and contracted so many times that it isnt a tight fit anymore so it will come out again when riding. Is there a solution or should i just have it welded in?

I used high temp rtv on the race car.  If you have it welded I would take the exhaust off to do it due to the sparks hitting things and leaving splatter marks.  You may also want to see if you have a local hot rod shop that may have a new plug you could try.

If it worked its way out it may be that the plug threads are just loose from rattling around.  Another plug is what I would try just put a small amount of Loc tite on the treads or high temp rtv.

Hope this helps.   Some one else may be able to give you some other ideas as well

Couple of years ago I met one of our members on the turnpike because he thought his bike was having an issue.
05 EG with Rineharts, and the plug had fallen out.

thanks for info, got a new plug and since the old plug is made out of aluminum the threads were just stripped. the threads on the inside of the pipe were ok due to being made out of steel so it is back together and seems to be good.
