Thought I would try something different.
« on: August 03, 2014, 06:37:58 PM »

For those that know me well know one fact is for certain.
I love to ride.
I have owned a Harley and or more than one Harley since 1977.
Since 1977 I have also had the privilege of owning many other brands along with the Harley's.
All of them have been fun and entertaining.

Like many I love my Harley's but have lately become a little disappointed with the dependability/longevity of the current crop of bikes from the Motor Company. That concern has been tempered by having the best Harley dealership in the world just three miles from home.
With that said, does that mean that any of the Harley's are leaving? Nope! Although I have moved 3 bikes up to Maggie Valley since the garage here has become too crowded.

So pictured below is my latest purchase. Of course it's blue! Blue is the perfect bike color.
My Aprilia's are orange only because they didn't come in blue.

My new bike has 25,500 miles on it and in the Wing world that is nothing. Is this a thread to discuss whether a Wing is better or worse that our CVO's? Nope. The best I can tell after 500 miles is that they are different. I have friends with both CVO's and Wings and they love both.
So think what you like, ride what you want, but know I'm having fun regardless of what bike I'm on.

To those offended by my posting about a Wing on a CVO site, get a life. I will be the first to tell you if you want to know about a Wing, join a Wing forum, I did. If you want to know about an Aprilia, join an Aprilia forum, I did. If you want to be a part of the best forum on the internet, well guys (and ladies) CVOHarley is my choice.

Well it looks nice. Might even be the right color  :nixweiss:

My wife is still waiting for me to take her for a ride on a wing since two of our riding buddies have them.

Pretty bike.  I gotta believe that you already love the fact it has a (reverse gear)..........which I firmly believe that Harley should have made "standard equipment" on the Tour models that are now so fu**ing heavy. :drink:

SBB,

I too have owned most of the worlds brands in my 50+ years of riding.  There is no bike I don't like to ride, each has its own personality and each may suite a particular riding style better than another.  For now I like my CVO SG the best but also like my KLR650, Concours 1400, and YZ250F, each scratches a different itch. I have never ridden a Wing but know from others what great touring bike they are.  From their loyal following they must be right for a large group of riders. Having been a member of many bike forums, I consider this CVO Owners and the FZ1OA forum to be tops. Lots of friendly active members and great technical advice of both sites. Enjoy your bikes no matter the type.....I do!

I understand!
There is a price to be paid, and I knew that when I wrote the check.
I'm expecting an interesting experience, can I say that?

Congrats on the Wing... I would be interested in your comments detailing the pluses & minuses of the Honda/CVO H-D. You certainly aren't the first to consider this option. Best of luck with the new acquisition!

Without mentioning "that bike" let me say, you are 100% correct on that reverse part and the heavy part.

I wanted to buy a wing in 2009 after my trip to Canada and back and sitting on I 95 for extended periods of time. I went to the Honda shop and sat on one for an hour. I could never get comfortable. They had one with floorboards and highway pegs, still couldn't get comfortable. I really tried to make it fit, but it wasn't in the stars. Good luck with yours and enjoy the different ride. Maybe one day they will make one to fit me, maybe a trike.

That cheap bastage probably will.
I can only hope some of the bottles have Glare in them.

Chip,

Your right they are two entirely different riding experiences. I can tell you from my experiences the Wing will provide you with many more uninterrupted miles of travel than any Harley would. I sold my last Wing when it had 103,000 miles on it. The only thing that ever went wrong other than routine maintenance was the rear end started to make a growling sound. Bought one off of a trike guy for $10.00 replaced it and went on, by the way it was off a new bike zero miles. The 1800 is a nimble bike, I rode the Georgia mountains many times and faster than I can on my CVO.

Don't need to wish you good luck as the Wing doesn't rely on luck. Enjoy it. Watch the weight when putting on center stand there is a knack to doing it and not dropping it.
