Popping sound from primary???

I got 08 springer. If I dump the clutch in 1st. There is a pop. Almost sounds like the primary chain is slipping. Going to pull the primary this week. Any ideas?

Sounds like the usual suspect of "compensator", are you getting any kick back when starting?
upgrade to the new 2014 SE comp and add the "compensaver oiling tray complete with new composite thrust washer", if your comp shows signs of fretting and heavy wear to the ramps.

How hard is it to change the compensator! Any helpful advice or tips?
